On top of a beautiful lunch, entertainment, dancing, and outdoor games, we also invited many of our industry collaborators to meet residents, friends, and family and share their time and resources. It is difficult to describe how much fun we had at our community aloha lunch. We were joined by friends, family, entertainers, and professional collaborators to share delicious food, play games, take pictures, dance, and enjoy each other’s company. Thank you to everyone who came, all our great partners, our wonderful community members for their hard work, and most of all our residents — who are the reason we all come together ✨🌺💛

We had another successful Barn-At-Home Workshop this month. Barn-At-Home is a monthly program from non-profit Connected Horse who brings the barn indoors, so that our residents can benefit from sensory exploration, nonverbal connection, and unique engagement opportunities ✨🐴☺️

This month we had the extra joy of being visited by two mother-daughter teams who, in addition to the normal introduction and horse-related discussions, had the residents sample scents and fragrances, like lavender, that they use to relax the horses they work with ✨🪻😴

We had another successful Chef’s Table this month making our own Chef Ron’s Focaccia! It is so special for us to come together as a community and cook. It is tactile, engages all the senses, fosters connection, and leads to a scrumptious snack! We are already looking forward to next month 😍

Mark your calendars! We are traveling back in time again — this Thursday (August 27) at 1:30pm — we are headed to the 1940s! There will be refreshments, live music, and if you have the moxie, you can hit the dance floor. Now we’re cooking with gas! ✨

Last week we had a party to celebrate the wonderful work of our residents! Did you see our post about The Crayon Initiative? In 2022, our community partnered with The Crayon Initiative to form Carefield Pleasanton’s “Make A Difference Club” ✨🖍️✨ Those residents who want to volunteer their time meet twice a month to sort discarded crayons for The Crayon Initiative.

Once sorted into colors, these discarded crayons are made into new crayons by The Crayon Initiative and shipped to pediatric hospitals across the USA. Each box of crayons that our residents sorted is about 35 pounds of crayons. The Crayon Initiative estimates that since our collaboration began in 2022, our community has sorted around 600 pounds of used crayons. That equals 24,000 NEW crayons — which equals 3,000 new boxes of crayons for hospitalized children all over the country.

We are so proud of our residents! Thank you to ANX Home Healthcare for providing the wonderful music of Zen for our celebration!
