This gentleman is Don, the husband of our lovely resident, Virginia. During our 50s Gala, we had the pleasure of watching Don serenade his wife, with the supportive accompaniment of our musical guests: J & J Duo. There is nothing we like better than seeing family members and friends come together at our community to enrich life here — this is such a prime example. Go, Don! 💛

Last week we traveled back in time again (✨as we’ve been doing every month so far this year✨) to that iconic era of the 1950s. We donned our best threads and cut a rug. And when we got tired, we relaxed with some scrumptious snacks. We had it made in the shade! 💃🕺

Many of you have seen them in person, but we want to take a moment to introduce Carefield Pleasanton’s Birds!
Our aviary currently houses many birds, the most colorful being our Gouldian Finches ✨🦜✨

There is a special reason we keep an aviary in our memory care. Bird watching is a multi-sensory experience. Watching the movement and flight of birds, while hearing their chirps and songs, is a feast for the senses that is also grounding and calming.

Multi-sensory experiences are particularly great for helping us stay in the present moment which keeps anxiety at bay. For those managing memory loss, conversations can be hard and stressful. Interacting with birds can provide a joyful, stress-free form of engagement.
