The UV Index was designed to help people reduce harmful UV exposure, not find the “perfect” time to tan.

A tan is your skin’s response to DNA damage. Even if you don’t burn, intentionally tanning still adds to your lifetime UV exposure, increasing your risk of wrinkles, brown spots, and skin cancer over time.
