🌊 Spring/Summer Updates From Specialty Aquatic Programs!

Hello Families and Friends,

As we wrap up our Spring season and prepare for an exciting summer across eight locations, we wanted to share a few important updates with our community.

1. Celebrating London
Our wonderful Pre‑Primary Coordinator, London, has completed her time with us after nearly three years. She began as a fieldwork student and quickly became a favorite among our littlest swimmers. She is now beginning her next chapter in a Master’s of Social Work, and we couldn’t be more proud of her. Please join us in wishing her all the best!

2. Welcoming Coach Charlie
Many of you already know Coach Charlie, who has been part of our aquatic family since 2016. He recently graduated with his degree in Sports Management and is stepping into the role of Aquatics Program Manager. We are thrilled to have him leading our aquatics programming this summer!

3. Spring Evaluations

A Note From Nicole’s Heart
This year marks 10 years of Specialty Aquatic Programs. Ten years ago, I was lugging my four boys from pool to pool, building this dream one lesson at a time. Now my youngest is graduating high school, three of my boys are still involved in our programming, and I’m watching former swim students graduate from high school and college.

I’m feeling all the emotions — gratitude, nostalgia, joy — and I’m deeply honored that you trust us with your family’s water safety, fitness, therapy, and aquatic experiences. This has been a truly special “water ride,” and I’m so thankful you’re part of it.

A message from our Director Aquatics Nicole

Good morning,

It is so wonderful to wake up to sunshine, birds tweeting, and that first feeling of warmth on your skin. Summer in Michigan is such a beautiful time for adventure and for creating new, happy memories.

For us, it’s also a time of serious preparation—making sure we enter this season with excellence. Owning a swim school, alongside my passion for aquatic therapy and my love for aquatic fitness, was never something I originally planned. But keeping my family safe, your family safe, and our community safe became my mission almost overnight.

Those of us who work in water safety—our networks, our associations, our fellow professionals—know the hard truths about the scary side of the water. That’s why these long days of planning, reviewing, and refining our programs matter so much. They are purposeful.

This morning, I woke up to notifications and emails showing my team working late into the night and early this morning—reviewing prevention policies (Kristi, our Operations Program Support Coordinator), strengthening quality assurance measures (Charlie, our new Aquatic Program Manager), and supporting communication with new and returning families (Diane, our Administrative Assistant). It made me tender‑hearted.

When I expanded into a new Montessori swim school in partnership with Four Corners Montessori Academy ten years ago—on top of my aquatic therapy private practice—I had no idea how hard it would be to build. But I had to try. I saw too many kids on the sidelines instead of in the water.

I remember my four young boys like it was yesterday at the pools with me. They were my why. I wanted them to be safe. I wanted your kids to be safe.

If you’ve made it through this heartfelt message from a mother and a businesswoman, please consider doing everything you can to learn to swim—or to help your child or grandchild learn to swim. It is one of the greatest gifts of empowerment and confidence you can give.

To my beautiful boys and my husband, who have all been a crucial part of S3 Swim School of Specialty Aquatic Programs LLC , Specialty Aquatic Programs, Specialty Aquatic Charity, and now my new wellness venture, Naquaste Water Wellness—Je t’aime, I have really enjoyed this ride over the past 10 years with you and watching you grow into fine young men.
