May is Osteoporosis Month!

Osteoporosis is often called the “silent disease”—you don’t feel your bones getting weaker until a fracture happens. That’s where imaging steps in.

A DEXA scan (bone density test) is the gold standard for detecting bone loss early, long before symptoms appear. It’s quick, painless, and can help your care team:
• Measure bone strength
• Identify fracture risk
• Track changes over time
• Guide treatment before serious injury occurs

Other imaging tools like X-rays or CT scans can also help spot fractures or advanced bone loss, but early detection with DEXA is key.

Don’t wait for a fall to find out your risk—talk to your provider about screening!

Ever wondered what's the actual difference between an X-Ray, CT Scan, and MRI?

While they all look like "medical photos," they work in completely different ways! Using a simple banana as an example, you can see how much more detail an MRI provides compared to a standard X-Ray.

Quick Breakdown:

X-Ray: Best for bones.

CT Scan: Great for internal organs and complex fractures.

MRI: The king of soft tissue (nerves, brain, muscles).

30 seconds. That's how long a CT lung cancer screening takes.

Not 30 minutes. Not even 3 minutes. 30 seconds.
And in those 30 seconds, we can catch lung cancer early, before symptoms ever show up. When it's most treatable.

If you're 50-80 with a smoking history, this scan is one of the smartest things you can do for yourself. It's quick, painless, and covered by most insurance with a referral from a doctor.

You've got 30 seconds. Your lungs deserve them.
