Camo Quilt Project All volunteer organization. We sew camo quilts for active duty..lap quilts for Veterans,.. We are open 9-3pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays...439 Factory Street.

Plymouth, Wi In 2006, Linda's then son-in-law asked her to make him a camouflage quilt to take with him on deployment to Iraq. When the other soldiers in his unit saw it, they all wanted one too. Linda got busy and made another 48 quilts. In the years since then, Linda and a group of dedicated volunteers have made over 30,292 camo quilts for troops on active deployment as of May of 2022. In 2013, they started making lap quilts for veterans in nursing homes, assisted living, home care and hospice. They have made over 2533 lap quilts as of May of 2022.. John got a special delivery from the Camo Quilt Project!

For those who aren't familiar, this wonderful organization entirely ran by volunteers, makes and delivers quilts to veterans. We love seeing our residents recognized in such a thoughtful way, and we're so thankful to the Camo Quilt Project for making each of them feel so special!

On this day, America began a solemn tradition of remembrance. In 1921, in a chapel at Châlons-sur-Marne, an Army sergeant named Edward F. Younger walked past four identical caskets—each holding an unidentified American from different WWI battle sectors—and placed a spray of white roses on one. That chosen soldier would come home as the first Unknown Soldier, a symbol for the 77,000 Americans lost on the Western Front whose names could not be confirmed. Marking the 105th anniversary, we remember that the Unknown’s journey was anything but simple: the casket traveled across the Atlantic on the USS Olympia, Admiral Dewey’s Spanish-American War flagship, before lying in state at the Capitol and interment at Arlington.

What many don’t know: Younger selected the casket using a simple, private ritual—circling the coffins several times with the roses until, guided by instinct and grief, he stopped. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier has since become a place of national promise: that no one who serves is forgotten, and that sacrifice is honored even when a name is lost to history.

On National Day of the Deployed, we honor the service members who are currently deployed and all those who have spent time away from home in service to our nation.

We also recognize the military families who carry the responsibilities of home while their loved ones are away. Their strength and support are an important part of every deployment.

To our deployed service members and the families standing beside them: thank you for your service and sacrifice.
