Is your family the right fit for Joey?

At 14 years old, Joey brings kindness, respect, and personality wherever he goes. Whether he's listening to rap music, playing video games, enjoying spicy food, or heading out for a bike ride, Joey loves finding joy in everyday moments.

Joey is seeking a supportive and stable family that can provide structure, patience, and trauma-informed care. A home with a strong male role model would be especially beneficial, but Joey could thrive in either a single-parent or two-parent household.

Discipline teaches. Abuse harms. As parents and caregivers, our goal is to help children learn and grow, not to make them fearful.

Effective discipline is calm, consistent, and focused on teaching. Before reacting, take a moment to pause, regulate your own emotions, and ask yourself: "Am I teaching, or am I punishing?"

A few ways to support healthy discipline:
- Set clear expectations
- Keep consequences age-appropriate
- Model healthy coping skills
- Create space for conversation and connection

Meet Joey, Our Minnesota Waiting Child!

Joey is a kind, respectful, and talented 14-year-old who is looking for a family to call his own. He enjoys listening to rap music, playing video games, rocking his favorite Nike shoes, eating spicy foods, and spending time outdoors on bike rides.

Joey thrives with structure, stability, and patient, trauma-informed caregivers who can help him continue to grow and succeed. He would benefit from a family with a positive male role model and could do well in either a single-parent or two-parent home.

Summer doesn’t have to be packed to be meaningful.

If your family’s summer schedule is starting to feel more stressful than fun, it may be time to focus on three simple things: connection, fun, and rest.

Whether your child loves a full calendar or needs more downtime, finding the right balance can help them recharge, build relationships, and make the most of summer.

Remember: there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. The best summer schedule is the one that supports your child’s unique needs.

When Matthew and Ingrid learned that Matthew’s nephew, Kash, needed a safe and loving home, they stepped forward.

What began as concern for a family member became a journey of kinship adoption, support, and belonging. Today, Kash is thriving alongside his parents and brothers.

When a child acts out, it’s easy to focus on the behavior, but what if we paused to ask why instead?

This blog explores how challenging behaviors are often rooted in deeper needs, skill gaps, or past experiences. Shifting from frustration to curiosity. Asking “What’s going on?” instead of “What’s wrong?” can make a meaningful difference.

Leading with empathy, listening, and problem-solving together can help build stronger relationships and create lasting change.
