I don’t think this one needs much explanation.

Find a provider who makes you feel heard, respected, and truly supported. You deserve someone who listens, takes the time to explain your options, and helps you make informed decisions…not someone who makes you feel rushed or dismissed.

Your voice matters.

Ok, so this was my dog’s first experience with the river... 14 years ago. Facebook Memories reminded me of it yesterday, and it still makes me laugh…Man, he thought something was coming for him 😂

But there’s also a lesson in it.
Sometimes we all become my dog in this video. 😬

When life feels overwhelming, our instinct is often to do more.
We overthink, Google every symptom, chase the next “fix,” or convince ourselves that if we just try harder, everything will fall into place…or for some, just run in circles.

Sometimes the answer isn’t to do more. Sometimes it’s to slow down, take a breath, and focus on one small step instead of twenty panicked (looking at you Charlie 👀🐶) ones.

It’s funny how often we do the same thing. We get so caught up trying to fix the problem that we end up making it feel even bigger.

Anyone else ever feel like this? 👇

Sometimes feeling exhausted isn’t about needing more coffee or more sleep.

Fatigue can have many possible contributors…including nutrition, iron status, blood sugar, stress, hormones, gut health, sleep quality, or other underlying health conditions.

That’s why I always encourage looking at the whole picture.

Swipe through for a few common areas that I see often.

Your symptoms are real. Your experience matters. And finding answers matters too.

But, I know it’s easy to let the constant focus on symptoms take up more space than they deserve.

The appointments. The labs. The supplements. The researching. The trying to figure out what’s going on.
It can become a full-time job 😮‍💨

But you are still a whole person outside of your symptoms.

You’re allowed to laugh, make plans, enjoy your life, have hobbies, and be more than the thing you’re trying to fix.

Your symptoms are part of your story… they’re just not the whole story.

Your body is always communicating with you.

Fatigue, bloating, hormone changes, digestive issues, stubborn weight changes, anxiety, brain fog, or just feeling “off” are often signs that something deeper deserves attention.

Instead of asking, “How do I get rid of this symptom?” I believe we should also ask:

“Why is this happening in the first place?”

That’s where functional/holistic medicine can be helpful…looking at patterns, connecting the dots, and creating a personalized plan based on your unique health story.

You don’t have to accept feeling less than your best as your new normal.

What’s one symptom you wish you had more answers about?

So many women tell me they’re “fine.”

They’re getting the kids to school, going to work, making dinner, and checking all the boxes.

But underneath it all, they’re exhausted, bloated, anxious, dealing with headaches, struggling to sleep, or relying on caffeine just to make it through the day.

When you live with symptoms long enough, they start to feel normal.

But just because something is common doesn’t mean it’s normal.

Your body is always communicating with you. Listening to those signals and addressing the root cause, rather than simply masking symptoms, can make a tremendous difference in how you feel.

You don’t have to settle for just getting by. You deserve to understand what your body is trying to tell you.

Which symptom have you been pushing through lately?

when you come into my oftice, I'm not just listening for a list of symptoms.

I'm listening for your story.

The new job. The loss of a loved one. The vacation where you finally felt like yourself again. The stress you've been carrying. The sleepless nights. The changes at home, at work, or in your daily routine.

These details aren't "off topic." They help provide context for what's happening in your body.
Our hormones, gut, immune system, and nervous system don't exist separately from our lives.

They're constantly responding to what we're experiencing.

That's one of the reasons I've intentionally structured my appointments to allow time for the full picture, not just the chief complaint. Understanding the context often helps us better understand the symptoms.

And sometimes, part of healing is simply having someone truly listen.

We often assume estrogen or progesterone are the cause of every hormone symptom.

Sometimes they are but not always.
Hormones are influenced by much more than hormone levels alone.
Stress, thyroid function, blood sugar, nutrient status, inflammation, and gut health can all play a role.

That’s why two people with similar hormone levels can have completely different symptoms.

Looking beyond estrogen and progesterone is a must.

Have you ever been told your hormones were “normal” but you still didn’t feel like yourself?

I will forever remind you to do things that bring you joy.

Last night I played hockey with two former teammates for the first time in 20 years.
Our families were in the stands watching, and it filled my cup.

One of my teammate’s husbands reminded me that the first game he ever saw me play ended with me in a fight. 😂 We all laughed because I was kind of an enforcer back then.

Life gets busy, but don’t forget to make time for the things that make you feel like yourself.

You’ve been told your labs are “normal”… but you still don’t feel like yourself.

Maybe you’re dealing with:
• Fatigue
• Bloating
• Brain fog
• Mood changes
• Irregular cycles
• Digestive issues

While standard lab work is an important tool, it doesn’t always explain why you’re experiencing symptoms.
Instead of looking at one symptom in isolation, I look for patterns across digestion, hormones, lifestyle factors, stress, and overall health to better understand what may be contributing to how you’re feeling.

You don’t have to settle for “everything looks normal” if you know something still feels off.

If this sounds familiar, I’d love to help you take the next step toward understanding your symptoms.
