NAHA International Director in Action: Talley Sjoberg Varney ๐
Talley Sjoberg Varney serves as the NAHA International Director for Central Asia. Throughout her career she has found herself working in two worlds that are not often connected. One is the world of aromatherapy and holistic health. The other is the international education, corporate and diplomatic world where employees and leaders face constant change, relocation, uncertainty, and stress. Today her work brings these two worlds together in practical and meaningful ways.
Talley is the founder of Clearly Sage Advice & Organics, LLC, where she supports expatriate families, employees and international communities through holistic health, aromatherapy, coaching, and mindfulness. She is a NAHA Level 3 Clinical Aromatherapist, a licensed social worker, and a certified life and management coach and MBSR instructor. A 20-year nomad, her work has taken her across North America, Europe, and Asia, giving her a unique understanding of what it means to build community while living far from home. She is also pursuing a PhD in Philosophy and Psychotherapy, where her research explores holistic approaches to wellbeing.
One of the most rewarding parts of her work has been helping organizations recognize that wellness is not simply another benefit offered to employees. It is part of the culture they create every day. Aromatherapy has a place within that conversation because scent has the ability to influence how people experience a space, prepare for difficult conversations, recover from stressful events, or simply pause long enough to reconnect with themselves. When combined with education, mindfulness, and compassionate leadership, aromatherapy becomes another tool that supports healthier workplaces and stronger teams.
She also enjoys encouraging fellow aromatherapists to look beyond the traditional paths of practice. There is tremendous opportunity to bring our knowledge into businesses, schools, humanitarian organizations, and international communities. Success in these settings requires more than understanding essential oils. It requires listening to organizational needs, speaking the language of business and education, respecting evidence, and demonstrating measurable value. Talley believes when we combine professional aromatherapy with thoughtful strategy, we create opportunities to serve people in places where wellbeing is becoming an essential part of everyday leadership and community rather than an afterthought.
