Having ADHD, or maybe not, is beginning to organize the desk upstairs realizing you need a garbage bag so you go downstairs to get one. You see a stain on the cabinets and now your scrubbing them. You finish 30 minutes later. You then look at your to-do list so you go back upstairs to organize the desk. You realize you need a garbage bag. The cycle begins again. 🤣 My daily story.

When you have children with emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, or other, even the structured schedules or daily rules of the house can be tough. An individualized reward system can help keep them on track!

Hi Everyone! As a Point Pleasant local, some of you may know me, some of you may recognize me, and others I may be a new face. My name is Dr. Lauren Schaible and I am a licensed psychologist, school psychologist, and BCBA (board certified behavior analyst). During the school year, I work full time at Montclair State University as a Professor and Clinical Specialist in the psychology graduate department and part time as a local business owner and psychotherapist for Voyage Behavioral and Mental Health Services. Now that the semester is over, I will be offering psychological testing services between now and the end of summer. This poem was brought to my attention about a decade ago…. it brought tears to my eyes to learn, in a different way, what my son was going through. I started learning. I started parenting differently. I started wanting to know even more. Now, I’m a psychologist. 🙂
