Functional medicine isn’t just supplements.

It’s growing food with your kids. 🌱

It’s getting outside instead of staying under artificial lights all day. ☀️

It’s eating real food that came from the earth instead of a package. 🥑

It’s building muscle, prioritizing sleep, managing stress, and creating a life that supports health instead of constantly working against it.

Don’t get me wrong—I love targeted supplements when they’re needed. But sometimes we forget that the foundations of health are still the most powerful medicine.

The truth is, no supplement can replace nutrient-dense food, sunlight, movement, meaningful relationships, quality sleep, and time spent in nature.

Today I was reminded of that while planting in the garden with my son. These simple moments do more for our health than most people realize.

Healing doesn’t always happen in a doctor’s office. Sometimes it happens barefoot in the grass, with dirt under your fingernails, slowing down long enough to reconnect with what truly matters.

The basics are still medicine. 🌿💚

🦋 Just because your TSH is “normal” doesn’t mean your thyroid is functioning optimally.

Many patients struggling with fatigue, brain fog, weight gain, hair loss, anxiety, depression, or difficulty losing weight are told their thyroid labs are normal after only checking TSH and T4.

The problem? TSH is just a signal from the brain. It doesn’t tell us how much active thyroid hormone is actually reaching your cells.

That’s why I often recommend looking at:
✔️ Free T3
✔️ Reverse T3
✔️ TPO Antibodies
✔️ Thyroglobulin Antibodies
✔️ A comprehensive hormone panel

Your thyroid doesn’t work in isolation. Stress, inflammation, mold exposure, nutrient deficiencies, gut dysfunction, and hormone imbalances can all impact thyroid function.

Your body isn’t designed to stay in survival mode 24/7. 🧠⚡️

A lot of people are told they “just have anxiety” when in reality their nervous system is overloaded and their cortisol patterns are completely dysregulated from chronic stress, inflammation, poor sleep, mold exposure, infections, blood sugar swings, overtraining, nutrient deficiencies, or burnout.

Common signs:

Cholesterol itself is not “bad.” Your body actually NEEDS it for hormones, brain function, vitamin D, and healthy cells ✨

The bigger issue is oxidative stress + inflammation 🔥

When LDL becomes oxidized, THAT’S when it can become much more damaging to blood vessels and cardiovascular health ⚠️

This is why in functional medicine we often look deeper than a standard cholesterol panel 🧪
Markers like:
