Fall sports are approaching, and it's a good time to make sure young athletes are ready for a safe and healthy season. 🏈⚽

A sports physical can help identify health concerns that could affect your child’s ability to participate safely in sports. It’s also an opportunity to discuss medical history, previous injuries, medications, and other health concerns with your pediatrician. 📋

Ideally, sports physicals should be completed well before the season begins so there’s time to address any concerns that may come up.

Starting solid foods is an exciting milestone, but it doesn’t mean breastfeeding has to stop. 🤱🥄

Around 6 months, babies are typically ready to begin trying solids while continuing to breastfeed. Breast milk remains an important source of nutrition as your baby gradually explores new tastes, textures, and foods. Click here to learn more about combining breastfeeding and solid foods and how you can make the transition smooth for your little one. 👇

Your baby will greatly enjoy the introduction of new tastes and textures in her life. However, it’s important to make sure she continues getting enough breast milk to meet her nutritional needs.

As a reminder for the school season, your child’s backpack should never weigh more than 10-20% of their body weight. To avoid straining your child’s muscles, it's also important to choose a backpack with wide, padded shoulder straps and a padded back. Make sure to also pack heavier items closest to the center of the back. 🎒

Does your child cry, cling to you, or become upset when it’s time to say goodbye? Separation anxiety is a normal part of childhood development and can be especially common during the toddler years.

While goodbyes can be difficult, consistent routines can help your child feel more secure. Try keeping departures short and sweet, creating a familiar goodbye ritual, and reassuring your child that you’ll be back. Click here for more tips. 👇

Separation anxiety varies WIDELY between children. Some babies become hysterical when mom is out of sight for a very short time, while other children seem to demonstrate ongoing anxiety at separations during infancy, toddlerhood, and preschool.
