Western medicine follows a diagnosis-and-prescribe model. 🥼📋

Most insurance-covered lab testing is designed to identify disease and justify treatment decisions. 💊

The GI-MAP is different 🧬

It isn’t designed to diagnose disease. Instead, it helps uncover patterns of dysfunction, imbalance, and potential root contributors to symptoms.

That’s why it’s commonly used by functional practitioners.

☑️ We look beyond the diagnosis to understand why symptoms are happening in the first place.

Functional labs like the GI-MAP can reveal microbial imbalances, opportunistic overgrowths, digestive dysfunction, immune activity, and inflammatory patterns—often long before a disease diagnosis is made.

Instead of simply managing symptoms, we investigate what may be driving them so we can create a more targeted plan.

➡️ COMMENT “GI” and I’ll send you my free GI testing guide.

Take Anne, for example.

She spent years trying to figure out why she was struggling with bloating, fatigue, brain fog, and digestive issues. Her conventional testing repeatedly came back “normal,” but she still didn’t feel well.

Functional testing revealed multiple gut imbalances, including bacterial overgrowth, fungal overgrowth, and a parasite that had never been identified.

With our personalized protocol and targeted support, she was able to address the underlying imbalances and experienced significant improvements in her digestion, energy, mental clarity, and overall quality of life.

Sometimes the missing piece isn’t another medication—it’s finding the root cause 🩵

Benefits of running a Dutch Stress & Hormone Panel 📊 Snippet #3
🌟Catch all my Dutch snippets in the LABS Highlight

Perimenopause & Menopause isn’t just ‘low estrogen’ – here’s why the DUTCH test changes everything.

Not not feeling like yourself?
This is where the DUTCH hormone test changes the game. 🧪✨

Instead of a quick blood snapshot, DUTCH gives us a full picture of your hormones:
➡️How much estrogen, progesterone, testosterone & cortisol you’re making
➡️HOW you’re metabolizing them (hello 2-OH, 4-OH, 16-OH estrogen pathways)
➡️Your stress curve across the day and how that impacts sleep, mood, and hot flashes
➡️Whether your liver + detox pathways are actually clearing hormones or letting them recirculate

For perimenopause & menopause, this matters so much because:
➡️Symptoms can come from imbalanced hormone levels or poor hormone clearance
➡️HRT can feel amazing or awful depending on how your body processes those hormones
➡️We can use DUTCH to personalize your HRT plan with your practitioner instead of guessing

When we see your unique hormone map, we can:
✨ Support safer estrogen metabolism
✨ Calm cortisol & nervous system dysregulation
✨ Target sleep, mood, belly fat, and brain fog at the root
✨ Create a plan that works with your HRT (or helps you decide if it’s right for you)

One of the biggest mistakes I see is assuming progesterone is the answer for EVERY woman with perimenopause symptoms.

The reality? How your body METABOLIZES progesterone matters!

On a DUTCH Stress & hormone Test, we can see whether you preferentially metabolize progesterone down the 5α (5-alpha) or 5β (5-beta) pathway.

Women who favor the 5α pathway often convert more progesterone into —> allopregnanolone — a neurosteroid that tends to have calming, anti-anxiety, and sleep-supportive effects.

Women who favor the 5β pathway may not get those same calming benefits. In some cases, they may actually feel WORSE on progesterone, reporting symptoms like:

• Increased anxiety
• Feeling wired or agitated
• Mood changes
• Poor sleep
• Feeling “off” despite being told progesterone should help

This is exactly why I don’t believe in guessing with hormones.

The same hormone can create completely different experiences depending on your metabolism, genetics, nervous system, and overall hormone picture.

Test. Don’t guess.

A DUTCH Test can help identify whether progesterone is likely to be supportive—or whether we need to address other root causes first.

Have you ever tried progesterone and felt worse instead of better?

At 40+, heavy periods are often blamed on “getting older.”

But before changing my hormones, I wanted to understand what my body was trying to tell me.

So instead of immediately masking the symptom, I investigated:

• DUTCH hormone testing
• Estrogen, progesterone, and androgen patterns
• Cortisol and stress response
• Thyroid function
• Iron, ferritin, B12, folate, zinc, and magnesium status
• Ovulation quality and cycle patterns
• Gut health and estrogen metabolism

Because heavy periods can be associated with:

✓ Low progesterone
✓ Estrogen dominance
✓ Perimenopausal hormone fluctuations
✓ Thyroid dysfunction
✓ Fibroids or polyps
✓ Chronic stress and inflammation

And yes, while birth control can be an appropriate tool for some women, many aren’t told that it may also increase the need for nutrients such as:

• Magnesium
• Zinc
• Selenium
• Folate
• Vitamins B6 and B12
• Vitamin C

The goal isn’t to avoid medication at all costs.

The goal is to understand what’s driving the symptom so you can make an informed decision.

Heavy periods are a message. I wanted to know what mine was saying.
