San Antonio Gardens is a single site, non-profit Life Care retirement community of almost 500 residents. Our residents' enthusiasm for new experiences energizes the campus with a sense of vitality and well-being. Without the worry of future health care needs and catastrophic costs, or the responsibilities of homeownership, Gardens' residents can relish their independence and enjoy all the pleasure

s and comforts of home with more time for the pursuits that matter most to them and the assurance they will receive care, should they need it, for the rest of their lives. While the majority of our residents live independently, we also offer assisted living, memory care, high acuity assisted living, and skilled nursing care on-site.

๐ŸŒฟ Thriving Thursday | Creating in the Woodshop

Thereโ€™s always something being built, repaired, or created in the Gardens Woodshop!

Open to all residents who are interested, the Woodshop offers classes and a place to learn new skills, work on projects, and enjoy time with fellow residents.

The talented Woodshop team also puts their skills to work for the Gardens, creating items for residents and staff, helping with basic repairs, and taking on special projects around campus. One of their larger contributions was helping with the design and build of the Magnolia Grove entrance doors.

Itโ€™s another example of the many ways residents share their talents, stay engaged, and make an impact on the community around them. ๐Ÿ’š

๐Ÿ” On the Table Tuesday | Fresh Off the Grill

Tomorrow is Wednesday, and that means the grill will be fired up at the Gardens! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Every Wednesday during the summer, our fresh Angus burger patties, never frozen, hit the outdoor grill and go straight from the grill to your plate.

Itโ€™s one of our favorite summer traditions, running from May through September. Tomorrow, itโ€™s time to fire up the grill! ๐Ÿ”

What I Learned Friday ๐Ÿ’š

One of the best lessons about community is that the places you visit every day can become places where friendships grow.

The San Antonio Gift Shop, run entirely by our wonderful resident volunteers, is more than a convenient place to pick up candy, clothing, greeting cards, gifts, or books written by fellow residents. It's a place where neighbors become friends.

As Ruth Stone, who helps run the Gift Shop, shared, residents don't just stop by to shop. They come to browse, meet up with friends, share conversations, and enjoy each other's company.

Life at the Gardens is filled with opportunities to connect, and sometimes those meaningful moments happen in the most unexpected places.

This week's lesson: Community isn't just built at events. It's built in the everyday moments and places where people naturally come together. ๐Ÿ’š

Even in the middle of summer, the Gardens is full of color.

From beautiful blooms to peaceful, tree-lined walking paths, there's always something growing and something beautiful to discover around every corner. Whether you're enjoying a morning stroll or simply taking in the scenery, nature continues to thrive throughout our campus.

It's just one of the many things that makes life at the Gardens so special. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒฟ Mission Minded Monday: Celebrating 40 Years! ๐ŸŒฟ

For an incredible 40 years, Lavonne Colston has been an important part of the Gardens community, helping residents stay active, engaged, and connected through wellness programs and fitness activities.

What has kept her at the Gardens for four decades? The people and the strong sense of community she has built with residents and fellow employees.

โ€œI am truly blessed to be celebrating forty years of employment at the Gardens. Day after day, year after year, I have loved being part of this amazing place. It is a place of real community, between not only the residents, but employees as well. The smiles, chats, hugs and yes, tears from knowing and caring for hundreds of people during my time here have enriched my life. I have always been inspired by how the Gardens keeps growing and thriving to better everyoneโ€™s days.โ€

40 years of wellness, connection, friendship and community. Thank you, Lavonne, for the difference you have made in the lives of so many at the Gardens. ๐Ÿ’š

๐ŸŒฟ Thriving Thursday | A Walk Around the Gardens

Sometimes the best way to see what life at the Gardens is like is to simply take a walk.

From a peaceful moment by the koi pond to creativity in the art studio, time spent in the Social Center, a stroll along our pathways, or a visit to the resident-run Gift Shop, thereโ€™s always something to discover along the way.

Itโ€™s all part of an ordinary day at the Gardens. ๐Ÿ’š

โ˜€๏ธ On the Table Tuesday: Beating the Heat at the Gardens!

Hot summer days donโ€™t slow things down at the Gardens! Our community is full of activities, programs, events, and resident-led committees that offer plenty of ways to stay cool, connected, and engaged indoors.

Residents can gather in the Social Center for a game of cards or a puzzle, get creative in an art class, attend a program or special event in the Assembly Room, or take part in one of the many committees that help make life at the Gardens so vibrant.

Whether youโ€™re looking to learn something new, explore an interest, lend your voice to a committee, or simply enjoy time with friends and neighbors, thereโ€™s always something to do.

At the Gardens, beating the heat can be as simple as stepping inside and joining in!

Celebrating the Spirit of Generosity

What a wonderful afternoon yesterday celebrating the generosity of those who help make life at The Gardens even more special.

Our Celebration of Generosity honored the friends, family members, and supporters whose gifts have enriched the lives of our residents through meaningful programs, experiences, and enhancements throughout our community.

We were especially excited to recognize our newest donors as they were welcomed to our Giving Tree, where their names will serve as a lasting reminder of their generosity and commitment to The Gardens.

Guests then enjoyed a delicious reception prepared by our Dining Services team while listening to the smooth sounds of a live jazz band, making for a memorable afternoon of gratitude and celebration.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our mission. Your generosity continues to make a lasting impact on our residents and our community.
