Increasing redness, worsening swelling, warmth around the wound, drainage or pus, and fever or feeling unwell can all be signs that an infection may be developing. Prompt evaluation can help determine the cause and ensure you receive the appropriate care.

Ignoring these symptoms may allow the infection to worsen and delay the healing process. The sooner a wound is assessed, the sooner a treatment plan can be put in place to support recovery.
