We're gathering again for our monthly Grief Support Tea - a warm, unhurried afternoon for anyone who is moving through loss, whether it's fresh or something you've been carrying for a long time.

This month's gathering will be guided by Kathleen Edwards Chase, a certified Grief Counselor, End-of-Life Doula, and beloved former town pastor and Morristown Chaplain. Kathleen has a rare gift for creating spaces where people feel truly safe to share, reflect, and simply be heard.

There's no agenda and no pressure - just a room full of people who understand.

Our Children's Grief Library grew a little bigger this week, thanks to the kindness of local authors Stephen Rusiniak/Writer and Karen Keneely Rusiniak.

Kiera recently had the pleasure of accepting a donated copy of Harry's Gone, a heartfelt children's book designed to help young readers navigate the difficult emotions that come with loss.

One of the greatest challenges families face after a death is helping children understand what has happened and giving them the tools to express their grief. Resources like Harry's Gone help open those important conversations.

Meet Kiera, the fourth generation funeral director and owner of Scanlan's.

Funeral homes aren't exactly what most people expect to see on their social feed, and Kiera gets that. But after a lifetime in this work, she's made it her mission to change the way people think and feel about it.

At Scanlan's, the focus has always been on doing things differently - less formal, more personal, more centered on celebrating the life that was lived. And because grief doesn't end when the service does, a lot of energy goes into aftercare too, from community gatherings to ongoing support for families long after that day has passed.

Kiera is pulling back the curtain on what funeral service really looks like, answering the questions people don't always feel comfortable asking out loud, and making conversations about loss feel a little more human.

We're hosting another Grief Yoga gathering at Scanlan's - a gentle, supportive space to slow down, breathe, and care for yourself. This session is led by Alison Edsall, Somatic Yoga Teacher from the Center for Mind Body Balance, who brings a warmth and intentionality to her practice that is perfectly suited for this kind of gathering.

No yoga experience needed. Mats will be provided.
