Born March 14, 1951 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka to Lambert and Lorene (Smith) Zeedyk of Gilman, Sharon attended Gilman grade school until her family moved to Thawville in 1964. She then attended high school in Roberts and graduated from Roberts-Thawville HS in 1969.
After graduation, Sharon worked for a short time at the First National Bank in Gilman and waitressed/hostessed in the grand early days of the Hicks Plaza. Sharon worked many years, and made many friends, while working as a CNA at local nursing homes; a career she dearly loved. She finished her working years at Casey's General Store and Moore Hardware Store, both in Chatsworth.
On December 1. 1973 Sharon married Alvin "Shorty" Huber, Jr., and they had one child, Gregory Lee Huber. After 26 years, Shorty preceded her in death on March 19, 2000. Sharon was also preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents.
Survivors include Greg (Candice), grandchildren Chelsea, Colton, Eden, Luke, Ben, Jacob, Jordyn, and Madesyn; brothers Duane (Shirley) and Lial (Sherri) Zeedyk; sisters Sandra Boyer and Nancy Gerdes-Hibsch. And a special friend, Dennis Ritzma.
More than anything, Sharon loved being "Nene" to all her grandchildren. She doted and loved on each one, attending their sporting events, school activities and hosting many, many sleepovers. Sharon was a loyal and loving caregiver for both her parents and volunteered for years at the Chatsworth Food Pantry. She loved animals, enjoying numerous pets over the years. She loved coffee and old movies. Sharon's latest passion was taking cruises with her sisters, having visited the UK, Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Aruba, and Dominican Republic. She was looking forward to Hawaii next. Sharon will be remembered by everyone who knew her as having a big heart, never holding a grudge, willing to help anyone, and a friend to all. Sharon’s final tribute was a donation to the Gift of Hope. Sharon was the best!
