We hope everyone had a wonderful ADA month this July! ♿

We are so thankful to the City of Poplar Bluff and Mayor Robert L. Smith for the signing of the ADA month Proclamation in recognition of the Americans with Disability's Act, the members of our communities with disabilities and our impact here at ILCSEMO towards helping them reclaim their independence.

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) month in July, celebrates Disability Pride Month. This month-long observance honors the signing of the ADA into law on July 26, 1990.

Why Celebrate Disability Pride Month?
Many people with disabilities still face barriers to being fully included and valued. Ableism is often ignored, but its effects are real. It limits access to education, jobs, healthcare, and respect.

Disability Pride Month challenges that. At its core, Disability Pride is about being accepted on our own terms. It means disability isn’t something to hide or fix. It’s part of who we are. Everyone deserves inclusion, rights, and respect, without having to earn them.

Disability Pride Month also reinforces a basic principle: people with disabilities belong in the decisions that shape school, work, health care, and community life.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Disability Pride Month, and we look forward to next year.

Sincerely,
~ILCSEMO

We want to celebrate our very own IT Administrator Sheldon Hampton!
Sheldon recently celebrated his 5 year anniversary with ILCSEMO and we congratulate him 🙂
Sheldon had been a ray of light since day one joining our team . Always looking to learn how we can keep updating our technology to better serve our consumers , assist our staff with their job and working with administration to make our jobs flow easier . Sheldon doesn’t just focus on our technology , but all areas of what the center needs and that makes him a true gem. Sheldon will be one of the first to volunteer to assist a co-worker , consumer or show kindness to anyone entering our center . Sheldon works hard to make sure that we all feel supported , heard and that if one of us is in need he will do his best to assist . Thank you Sheldon for your continued spark of wanting to make our center better each day. You help inspire those of us who have been there for years , bringing a fresh prospective and we appreciate the smile !

Please join us in putting our hands together for an amazing accomplishment and recognition for Tonya, as she has just hit 25 YEARS, with us here at ILCSEMO. 🥳🥳🥳

To Tonya, we hope you accept this token of our appreciation although we could never repay you for the support and dedication to our cause and community for the past 25 years. Your kindness, dedication, and unstoppable attitude have been a core of our center for so many years.

You have always been willing to go the extra mile for our consumers and ILCSEMO. No matter the challenges they face, or their background, your ability to help anyone meet their goals for independence, under any circumstances, has impressed, and improved all of us. Not only in our work, but in our lives and the lives of so many members of our community. We thank you for the countless meaningful and accessible events you have planned and organized for our community and all the effort those take to go smoothly.

Thank you, Tonya for sticking with us through thick and thin, we wouldn't be the same without you, and all of your support!

Sincerely with great respect,
~ILCSEMO

May we have your attention please!

Help us put a round of applause together for Debbie, as she just hit the incredible milestone of 25 YEARS with us here at ILCSEMO!!!🥳🥳🥳⭐⭐

To Debbie,

Since you began with us in 2001 you have faced every challenge and hurdle with a smile and an unstoppable attitude. Your ability to help others and our center, no matter the task or the challenges you face, have left an impact on us all. You have shown up for our community and our staff like no other. Your ability to create meaningful experiences, solutions, and opportunities has helped us build our Independent living program from the ground up.

I speak on behalf of our community and all of us here at ILCSEMO for the pleasure it is to have you with us here, helping to break down barriers and reclaim our independence for so many of us here in Southeast Missouri. Our lives would not be the same without you!

With Gratitude,
~ILCSEMO
