Most of us don’t think much about hospice until we, or someone we love, suddenly need it.

But that can be a difficult time to start figuring out what hospice is, how it works, and what choices are available.

That’s why Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is offering a FREE virtual community presentation:

“Know Us Before You Need Us: Understanding Hospice Care”
Monday, September 28, Noon–1 p.m., Online via Zoom

We’ll talk about hospice and palliative care in plain language, answer common questions, clear up some common misconceptions, and explain the options available here in Clallam County.

Because the best time to learn about hospice is before you need it.

What makes nursing at VHOCC different?

VHOCC operates under a rare model of hospice care. We do not bill patients, Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. Our care is made possible through the generosity of our community.

For our clinical team, that means the focus remains where it belongs: providing excellent care to patients and families.

Our nurses have significant clinical autonomy while working within a supportive, collaborative team. They can develop meaningful relationships with patients and families and help people experience greater comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

We’re currently looking for an experienced Hospice & Palliative Care RN Case Manager to join our team.

Congratulations to Linda E., winner of VHOCC’s beautiful summer quilt! Her lucky ticket was drawn on August 31.

Linda told us she plans to give the quilt to a dear friend who she knows will truly appreciate it.

Also, a very special thank you to the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club, whose talented and generous members donated this beautiful handmade quilt to VHOCC. We are so grateful for the time, creativity, and care they put into their work and for sharing it in support of VHOCC and our community.

Thank you to everyone who participated. Every raffle ticket purchased helps support the care and services VHOCC provides.

Stay tuned for our next raffle!

You may know exactly the person we’re looking for.

Is there an RN in your life who is compassionate, clinically strong, comfortable working independently, and especially good at supporting patients and families through difficult times?

Please send this their way!

VHOCC is hiring a Hospice & Palliative Care RN Case Manager for 30–40 hours per week. We’re looking for someone with at least one year of hospice or palliative care experience who wants to practice nursing in a highly collaborative, mission-focused environment.

Sometimes the best candidates hear about an opportunity because someone who knows them says, “This sounds like you.”

Hospice and palliative calls for clinical expertise, careful listening, thoughtful symptom management, patient and family education, and the ability to be fully present during some of life’s most meaningful moments.

VHOCC is looking for experienced RN Case Managers who want to bring all of those skills to patients and families in their own homes.

If this sounds like the kind of nursing you want to practice, we’d love to hear from you.
