Washing your Masthead bra? Here’s the easiest way to care for it. 💗

• Hand wash or use the gentle cycle with cold or warm water and a mild detergent.
• Close all Velcro before washing so it doesn’t catch on the bra or other clothing.
• Use a lingerie bag for a little extra protection in the wash.
• Lay flat or hang to air-dry rather than using the dryer.

If you’re trying to remove blood or serous fluid, soak the bra in cold water before washing. An oxygen bleach can also help with stains.

Save this for wash day so you have it when you need it.

Breast support may not be the first thing people think about after heart surgery, but for many women, it can be an important part of feeling more comfortable during recovery.

Debra received her Masthead bras from her surgeon’s head nurse after surgery and shared:

“They are awesome. So comfortable. Very hard to go back to a regular bra!”

Some of the biggest recovery milestones can look like little things from the outside. Closing your bra on your own. Saying goodbye to drains. Reaching for a little extra support months later when your chest still aches.

We’re so grateful Maire shared what the Elizabeth Pink Surgical Bra has meant to her, from waking up in it after surgery to still reaching for it today. Her words say it better than we could: 💗

“I woke up in the Pink bra after surgery. Months later, I still reach for it when my chest aches and I need a little extra support at night. The Elizabeth has followed me through the aftermath of a double mastectomy through today, still learning how to exist in my new-ish body.

“Post-surgery is a weird time. Things hurt ... or don’t hurt, which is arguably weirder. Getting dressed can [be] a chore, feeling comfortable is definitely a chore. Especially as someone who loves using fashion for comfort AND expression - it was/is a lot.

“I used my progress with the Elizabeth as markers of moving forward. Closing it by myself for the first time made me feel like I conquered Everest. Cutting off the drain straps made me feel like I was returning to “normal” (lol). Little things made big differences.

“To those who may also wake up/woke up in the Pink bra - trust yourself. Take it minute by minute as you need to, but keep looking forward. You got this.”

The right surgical bra should support recovery in more ways than one.

A patient recently shared that the bra she was initially given was two sizes too small. She spoke up, received the right size, and the difference in her experience was immediate.
