Join us in thanking Susanna S., a CT Technologist, who received kudos from a patient who called to share that he was in the lab for a blood draw and then went to CT for a cat scan. He said everyone was so nice and provided exceptional service, especially Susanna. He said the treatment he received from her was like receiving care in his own home from a family member. Thanks for all you do, Susanna!

WHAT'S GOING AROUND?β€” Each week, we ask our ER physicians and providers what ailments and conditions are commonly being seen in our Emergency Room.

THIS WEEK, Dr. Erin Cuddeback, an emergency physician, reports:

Trauma
Mainly through falls, injuries β€” broken bones and soft tissue lacerations β€” have been by far the leading reason for patients to seek care in the emergency department. These injuries have affected all age groups, with pediatric patients sustaining injuries through athletics and other outdoor activities, while the majority of adult patients were injured in hobby-related activities, such as fishing, landscaping, and motorcycle riding.

Allergies
Environmental irritants and airborne allergens continue to cause complications, specifically and most seriously with asthma sufferers, who may experience shortness of breath and other difficulties breathing.

Every cancer survivor has a unique story.

Stories of courage, perseverance, and hope.

This National Cancer Survivors Month, we celebrate the individuals who have faced cancer with remarkable strength and continue to inspire their families, friends, care teams, and communities every day.

At Karmanos Cancer Institute, we are honored to walk alongside our patients throughout their cancer journeys and witness the resilience that defines survivorship. Their stories remind us that there is hope, even in life’s most difficult moments.

Join us in celebrating cancer survivors by reading the powerful stories of patients who have turned challenges into triumphs and continue to inspire others facing a diagnosis.

WHAT'S GOING AROUND?β€” Each week, we ask our ER providers what ailments and conditions are commonly being seen in our Emergency Room.

THIS WEEK, Dr. Erin Cuddeback, an emergency physician at McLaren Health Care, reports:

Injuries
While there has already been a steady volume of patients seeking care for orthopedic and soft tissue injuries, the holiday weekend and improved weather has increased that volume, with the majority of those receiving treatment being pediatric patients.

Asthma
The rise of allergens and other environmental irritants has caused exacerbated symptoms in some asthma sufferers.
