🧸 Why look for an "RPT-S" when choosing a therapist for your child? 🧸

Finding the right counselor for your child can feel overwhelming. You want someone who truly gets them. When searching, you might see the letters RPT/RPT-S after a therapist's name vs. someone who says they provide play based or play informed.

Here is why those letters matter so much for your child's healing:
✨ They speak your child's language - Children don't process trauma or big emotions by sitting on a couch and talking. They do it through play. An RPT-S (Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor) is highly trained to use play to help kids express what they can't say in words.

HELP US WITH THE COOL PET PROJECT! 🧊🐾

With the highest temperatures we typically see in late summer arriving early and hitting hard starting in mid-June, we’ve seen a significant increase in requests for assistance from community members living in cars, campers, campgrounds, or upstairs apartments without air conditioning.

To help prevent heat exhaustion and heat stroke in dogs, we will be collecting the following items for the remainder of the summer. A specialized Amazon wishlist for The Cool Pet Project will be linked in the comments:

• Gallon jugs of water
• Washcloths
• Cooling rags
• Cooling dog mats
• Dog bowls
• Continuous mist spray bottles
• Rechargeable fans
• Bottles of rubbing alcohol
• Used Air Conditioners (new on our wishlist: $135)
• Tote bags/backpacks to hand out supplies

We will also be asking for donations of used air conditioners from anyone who may be getting rid of one. Units must be in working condition. They do not need to be new or cosmetically perfect; they just need to work. We will also have small window air conditioners on our wishlist if someone feels so inclined to purchase one!

Our goal is to provide supplies and support to anyone who reaches out, including individuals experiencing homelessness who are living in cars or campers, as well as those in upper-level apartments who are struggling in these extreme temperatures and worried about their pets’ safety.

❗️❗️❗️❗️ WHILE WE'RE STILL COLLECTING SUPPLIES:

❗️ If you need water, we will fill up jugs for anyone who asks.

❗️ If you need a bowl of water for your dog, please come into the office and ask. We will get it for you.

❗️ If you need a place to sit in the shade, we will have a canopy up by the end of the day for people to sit.

❗️ We want to be a resource for anyone who needs it. Please do not be afraid to approach us for help. We desperately want to keep your animals with you. Please use the resources we are providing.

Resilience Counseling & Play Therapy is seeking a dedicated and passionate therapist to join our growing group practice in Port Huron, Michigan.

We are currently hiring:
✅ Fully Licensed LPC or LMSW
✅ Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) with at least one year of post-licensure clinical experience

We are looking for a clinician who enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults and is committed to continued professional growth. Our ideal candidate is highly motivated, respectful, dependable, resourceful, and eager to become part of a collaborative team, not simply fill a position.

What we're looking for:
• Passion for helping clients across the lifespan
• Interest in developing specialized skills such as Play Therapy, EMDR, Trauma Treatment, or other high-demand clinical services
• Strong professionalism, integrity, and commitment to quality care
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment
• Availability for at least two evenings per week
• Commitment to maintaining a 20+ hour per week caseload once established

Resilience Counseling & Play Therapy is a professional, trauma-informed counseling practice serving children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. We are also a Christian faith-based practice that welcomes and serves all clients regardless of their beliefs or backgrounds. Therapists joining our team should be comfortable supporting the practice's mission, values, and goals, while appropriately integrating faith-based interventions only when clinically indicated and requested by the client.
