The name Dawning Lace comes from the idea that birth and postpartum is a new "dawn" and that "lace" is intricately intertwined just as a baby in the womb. I have a background in family social work, with extensive experience in observing families that coul

d have benefited from a doula. I'm currently working on my Master's degree to become a Perinatal Mental Health Therapist, as this is a vital piece in this space! Sometimes people struggle connecting because they assume someone may not be relatable. The mental load of motherhood, which often falls disproportionately on the birthing parent, but can also be experienced by non-birthing parents, can be overwhelming and shows up when least expected, like a wave of anxiety crashing down on you in the middle of a chaotic day, or a nagging voice in the back of your mind that you can't shake, reminding you of all the things that need to be done, and the weight of responsibility that comes with caring for tiny humans. It's the constant juggling act of managing schedules, meals, and emotions, all while trying to maintain a sense of sanity and self.
