Woodhaven Center of Care is a 143-bed licensed Nursing Home and Skilled Nursing Facility as well as a 181-bed Medicaid funded NY State Licensed Assisted Living and Adult Home located on the same campus in Port Jefferson Station. We have been providing loving, dignified care to our residents for more than 30 years, with Long-Term Care, Sub-Acute Care and Short-Term Rehabilitation while being certified for both Medicaid and Medicare.

🍋 Sippin’ our way through National Lemonade Day! 🍋

Every year on August 20th, we celebrate National Lemonade Day, a day dedicated to the sweet, tart, and refreshing drink that has been a summertime favorite for generations! ☀️

Our residents and staff enjoyed an afternoon lemonade bar featuring pink and classic yellow lemonade with strawberry, peach, mango, pineapple, and many more yummy flavors to choose from! 🍓🍑🥭🍍

🌑✨ Total Solar Eclipse 2026! ✨🌑
Today, August 12th, 2026, a Total Solar Eclipse is taking place! 🌎☀️🌙 The path of totality travels across parts of the Arctic, Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain, where the Moon completely blocks the Sun for a brief period of time! A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, temporarily blocking the Sun from view!
Our residents spent the afternoon learning all about this incredible celestial event, sharing what they knew, and of course enjoying some delicious Moon Pies to match the theme! 🌙

WELCOME TO CAMP ALLEGRIA! 🏕️🌲🔥
We spent the day enjoying all of our favorite camp activities! 🎨📿 From making bracelets and coloring to creating slime, there was something fun for everyone! We ended the day with delicious S’MORES 🍫🔥 and gathered around the campfire to sing some of our favorite songs with Alex Alexander! 🎶🎤

Nothing beats a day filled with creativity, laughter, music, and camp memories! 🏕️✨🤎

On this day, August 7, 1789, Congress signed the act providing federal support for lighthouses, beacons, buoys, and public piers—helping guide sailors safely along our nation’s coast for generations⚓💙
Here on Long Island, we’re lucky to be close to two iconic lighthouses—Fire Island Lighthouse and Montauk Point Lighthouse! Inspired by these beautiful local landmarks, our residents spent the day creating their own stunning lighthouse masterpieces🎨🖌️

🥤🤎 Happy National Root Beer Float Day! 🤎🥤

Did you know? On August 6, 1893, root beer was first commercially introduced in Colorado, where it quickly became a favorite American treat! 🇺🇸

There was no better way to cool off on a hot summer day than with a delicious root beer float made with creamy vanilla ice cream. 🍦✨

🤝💙 International Day of Friendship 💙🤝

Friendship has the power to bring people together, no matter our age, background, or where we come from. 🌎 The United Nations proclaimed International Day of Friendship in 2011 to recognize that friendship between countries, cultures, and individuals can inspire peace and build bridges of understanding.

Today, we celebrated by creating our very own friendship bracelets on our B unit! 🧵✨ The afternoon was filled with helping hands, upbeat music, colorful beads, and plenty of laughter. Watching residents and recreation aides encourage one another and create something meaningful together reminded us that the smallest acts of kindness often create the strongest connections!☺️

Here’s to celebrating the friendships that brighten every day! 💕🌈

💡TIP OF THE WEEK💡
Movement doesn’t have to be strenuous to make a difference! Every step, stretch, and activity contributes to healthier aging. Staying active helps older adults maintain strength, improve balance, support heart health, boost mood, and preserve independence.

Our Rehab team plays an important role in helping residents safely stay active. Through personalized exercises, gait training, strength building, and balance activities, they encourage each individual to keep moving at their own pace while working toward their personal goals!💪

🌴🎅 Merry Christmas… in July! 🎄😎

Christmas is just too much fun to celebrate only once a year! Our residents spent the afternoon enjoying tropical holiday music, singing all the Christmas favorites, and cooling off with frozen hot chocolate that quickly became everyone’s favorite treat! 🍫❄️❤️

Sunshine, smiles, and a little Christmas magic made for the perfect summer celebration! ☀️🎁✨

🎨🌳 Happy Art in the Park Day! Inspired by the outdoor art festival that begins today in Richland, Washington, our residents enjoyed an afternoon of creativity in our beautiful courtyard. Surrounded by lush trees, colorful flowers, and peaceful greenery, everyone painted the beautiful scenery around them. Spending time outdoors while expressing creativity is a wonderful way to relax, connect with nature, and celebrate the joy of art! 🌸🖌️
