St. Joseph Institute

St. Joseph Institute St. Joseph Institute offers compassionate care for adults struggling with substance use and mental health disorders.

Joseph Institute offers a personalized approach to addiction treatment. Unlike most rehab programs, which use group therapy and a “one size fits all” approach, our highly trained counselors work one-on-one to help resolve the underlying issues that so often drive addiction. We believe in a holistic approach that brings healing to the whole person—body, mind, emotions, and spirit—using both state-o

f-the-art therapies and proven strategies. Our staff has expertise in treating chronic pain, trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, grief, and other issues that need to be addressed to achieve lasting recovery. We work with the major insurance companies, striving to make addiction treatment affordable without compromising quality. Located on a beautiful mountain-side in central Pennsylvania, our campus comprises elegant log and stone lodges, miles of walking trails, a spa and wellness center, gym, library, and chapel, and very private grounds, all of which contribute to a successful recovery experience.

June is PTSD Awareness Month. 💙

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affects millions of individuals and can impact every aspect of daily life. By increasing awareness, reducing stigma, and encouraging conversations about trauma, we can help more people find the support they need.

Healing is possible, and no one has to face trauma alone.

Recognizing that your past doesn’t define who you are today can open the door to healing and self-compassion. Learn how practicing acceptance and forgiveness helps you move forward without shame weighing you down.

Feeling like you want to run away from your past, especially in recovery, is common. The memories of people you may have hurt, how you might have hurt yourself, and all the other moments you want to forget can be overwhelming. But embracing your future requires facing what’s behind you, too.

Mental Health Awareness Month may be coming to an end, but the importance of caring for ourselves and one another continues far beyond May.

This month reminded us how powerful support, connection, and honest conversations can be. A simple check-in, listening without judgment, or reminding someone they matter can make a bigger impact than we realize.

As we move into a new month, let’s continue showing up for ourselves and the people around us. Keep prioritizing your mental health, keep having the difficult conversations, and keep reminding others that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

A setback in recovery doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it means something in your healing process needs more attention. Discover more about how to recognize the stages of relapse and regain your momentum.

Returning to a behavior you’ve worked to stop, like drinking, using, or gambling, is often called a relapse, and it can feel devastating in the worst of cases and defeating in the best. Still, relapsing may look different for everyone. For some, it’s one rough night that won’t be repeated. For...
