When you love what you do, you don't necessarily do it for accolades or recognition - you do your best in order to provide more than expected service at all times. At Seagrass Village of Port Orange, the last six months has brought a sweet spotlight to four team members who have been recognized for their contributions to our community. Hard work and dedication always pay off - and this acknowledgment from our national parent company is extremely gratifying - more importantly to us, it means that we are on the right track, always growing, always striving, always giving our all to our residents, each and every day. And we love doing it.

If the way to the heart truly is through the stomach, then Seagrass Village of Port Orange is bursting with very happy hearts! Tonight was our monthly Family Buffet, and our Culinary Director, Brian Balliet, pulled out all the stops to please our beloved residents. A beautiful shaved fennel and arugula salad and fresh-baked rolls opened the meal, complimented by sides of rosemary roasted fingerling potatoes and tri-color baby carrots with a white truffle oil drizzle. Entrees - as pleasing to the eye as to the palate - were ancho chili seared diver sea scallops and jumbo gulf shrimp served over baby spinach sauté with saffron citrus cream sauce, or key lime ginger butter basted prime rib of beef served with grilled pineapple salsa or chilled horseradish coconut cream. An assorted variety of confections - including cookies, parfait and key lime pie - ended a most lovely dinner. We do these Family Buffets monthly. Don’t you wish you were here?

At Seagrass Village of Port Orange, the residents are our bosses. As such, we take very seriously events like this pictured: the monthly Town Hall, led by our Executive Director and attended by all managers. Residents from Independent and Assisted Living are invited and encouraged to attend, in order to get the latest news and updates, and ask questions. An hour very well spent - listening to our bosses, addressing their concerns, sharing our plans, and demonstrating our goal of collaboration with them. Communication is always key!

This past weekend, our residents enjoyed an informative and nostalgic trip to the Deland Naval Air Station Museum. Getting up close and personal to artifacts of their own service to our great nation was a point of tremendous pride for our veteran residents. We are glad to provide such opportunities for them ... and we thank them (and all veterans) for their service.

Every month, Seagrass Village of Port Orange has a spirited party to celebrate all the birthdays in that particular month. Today we held the party during our Cheers happy hour, with cake, spirits and musical entertainment. This month's bash coincided with two special natal anniversaries in our universe on this day: we honor our Director of Resident Services, Samantha Knisley, and our precious resident Blanca, who turns 98 today! Truth be told, we celebrate our residents and staff every day, but a little louder and bolder on their birthdays! Many many happy returns to the day to all of our July birthdays
