This weekend, I had the privilege of joining an Honor Flight as part of the medical volunteer team accompanying veterans to Washington, D.C.

What stayed with me most wasn’t any particular stop—it was spending time with these veterans and hearing their stories. Some shared experiences they rarely discuss, while others reflected on the people they served with and the bonds that still shape their lives.

Watching them visit the memorials built in their honor was equally moving. I often found myself focused on their reactions as much as the monuments themselves. Some stood quietly, absorbed in memories, while others searched for names or shared stories sparked by what they saw. In those moments, the memorials became more than landmarks—they brought personal memories, service, and sacrifice to life.

Although I was there to help with medical needs, I left with a deeper appreciation for the people I met. Their resilience, humility, and willingness to share part of their lives made this an unforgettable experience.

Thank you to the veterans, guardians, organizers, and volunteers who make Honor Flights possible. It was a privilege to be part of the journey and spend time with such an extraordinary group of individuals.
