The more FDA approved indications for these medications the more we will see employers insurances dropping coverage. Sadly, it was easy to say they were covered when obesity was the only diagnosis approved. Now that we are seeing cardiovascular indications, sleep apnea indications we are seeing denials.

SO...... I say this so our patient's understand, if we say you will not be approved, it's because we have already sent someone elses to your particular Insurance and already been told it was now excluded due to your employers!

We do not have the bandwidth to continue to do PAs for a medication we already know will be denied. Thank you for understanding!

GLP-1 drugs continue to reshape the health care and business landscape, but their growing use may already be creating financial challenges for employers.

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month, and at New Horizon Primary Care, we believe one message deserves to be heard loud and clear:

Together, we can save lives.

Su***de can affect anyone: our patients, families, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and loved ones. Sometimes the person struggling the most is the person we least expect. A conversation, a check-in, or simply being willing to listen without judgment can make a difference.

At NHPC, mental health is part of whole-person healthcare. If you are struggling, or you know someone who is, you do not have to navigate it alone. Our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Lisa Trautman, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, is available to provide compassionate mental health evaluation, treatment, and ongoing support.

Please check on your people. Ask the difficult question. Listen. Stay connected. Encourage them to seek help. There is hope, and there is help.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or su***de crisis, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

You matter. You are not alone. Help is here. Together, we can save lives.

“RESEARCH GRADE” DOES NOT MEAN MEDICAL GRADE.

With the growing popularity of peptides, GLP-1 medications, and other wellness therapies, we want to make New Horizon Primary Care’s position very clear:

NHPC does NOT support or recommend injecting or otherwise using products labeled “Research Use Only,” “Research Grade,” or “Not for Human Consumption.”

Those words matter.

Products sold through research-chemical websites are not the same thing as medications prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider and dispensed through an appropriately regulated pharmacy. When something is labeled “not for human use,” it should not be treated as a medication for human use.

The FDA has recently taken enforcement action against peptide sellers marketing injectable products as “research use only” or “not for human consumption” while their marketing suggested human use. The FDA has specifically emphasized the additional concern with injectable products because injections bypass many of the body’s natural defenses against microorganisms and contaminants.

At NHPC, we recognize that peptide therapy and compounded medications may have an appropriate role for selected patients. However, these therapies should be approached as medical treatment, not a DIY experiment.

When compounded medication is medically appropriate, we believe patients should work with a qualified healthcare provider and an appropriately licensed pharmacy operating within the applicable 503A or 503B federal compounding framework. These pathways have specific requirements governing how medications may be compounded and the bulk drug substances that may be used.

It is also important to understand that compounded medications are not FDA-approved medications, and not every peptide is eligible or appropriate for compounding under federal law. Your healthcare provider should evaluate the specific medication, its legal and regulatory status, available evidence, potential risks and benefits, your medical history, and appropriate monitoring.

Please do not purchase an injectable substance from the internet simply because someone on social media tells you it is the “same peptide” for a fraction of the price.

Your health deserves more than a vial labeled “for research purposes only.”

Talk with your healthcare provider about what is medically appropriate for you, where your medication is coming from, and whether it is being prescribed and dispensed through an appropriate pharmacy.

At New Horizon Primary Care, patient safety will always come before trends.

PIPELINE: Chinese chemical manufacturers linked to fentanyl precursors are now shipping unapproved weight-loss injectables directly into American homes.

Blockchain researchers traced proceeds from U.S. peptide sales flowing back to China-based companies that have produced synthetic opioids, including fentanyl.

In one operation, Customs and Border Protection officers in Cincinnati uncovered more than 300 master cartons from China containing roughly 5,000 individual peptide shipments — all concealed under false descriptions to evade detection.

A huge THANK YOU to the St. Joe Foundation for making another FREE Who We Play For heart screening possible for Gulf County students!

This screening feels especially meaningful this year because Florida’s Second Chance Act is now impacting student-athletes across our state.

In 2025, Florida passed SB 1070, the Second Chance Act, which was signed into law by Governor DeSantis. Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Florida requires an ECG/EKG screening for students before their first participation in interscholastic athletics, with certain exemptions. If an ECG is abnormal, the student must receive appropriate medical clearance before returning to participation. The law also encourages school districts to develop public-private partnerships to make these screenings affordable and accessible.

That is exactly why partnerships like this matter.

On Friday, September 18, from 1:00–3:00 PM, Who We Play For will be at Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School providing FREE heart screenings, thanks to the generosity of the St. Joe Foundation.

An ECG is quick, painless, and noninvasive, but it can identify cardiac abnormalities that may otherwise go undetected. This isn't just about checking a box for sports participation. It is about giving our kids a second chance by identifying a potential problem before the unthinkable happens.

I am incredibly proud that Gulf County continues to prioritize the hearts of our students and grateful for every organization and community partner helping make these screenings accessible.

Parents, please take advantage of this opportunity and get your student screened. Five minutes could make all the difference.
