The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced the closure of the 2026 recreational bay scallop harvest season in the Gulf County Zone, including St. Joseph Bay.

The closure follows a summer survey that found very low bay scallop abundance in the area. The closure is intended to help support the recovery of the local scallop population and future harvest seasons.

Fishing, boating and swimming remain open in the area.

Exciting news for pediatric care!

For the first time, PanCare's Port St. Joe Clinic is offering dedicated pediatric care! We're excited to welcome Candi Calderon, APRN, CPNP-PC, who will begin seeing patients on August 17. Candi is a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in pediatric care with 13 years experience of providing care to children and their families.

From newborn checkups and well-child visits to sports physicals, sick visits, and ongoing care, Candi will help children establish a medical home where they can receive compassionate, coordinated care as they grow.

Even better, families can now access pediatric care alongside medical, dental, behavioral health, and pharmacy services in one convenient location.

Candi and her husband, Matt, are proud Mexico Beach residents raising their three children right here on the Gulf Coast, and she's excited to care for the families in the community she calls home.
