At Amethyst Recovery Center, we believe in shining a light on the incredible individuals who make healing possible. Today, we’re proud to spotlight our Clinical Director, who has been with Amethyst for over two years.

✨ Her Why
Growing up surrounded by recovery, she witnessed the power of hope and healing at a young age. With her mom celebrating nearly 27 years of sobriety and her father serving as a firefighter, her passion to help others overcome trauma and addiction was ignited early on.

✨ Her Mission
She has built a safe, unified, and trustworthy environment for both staff and patients—always emphasizing trauma-informed care, patient autonomy, and family involvement. Her favorite part of working at Amethyst? “Working together as a team to show up for patients in their most vulnerable moments.”

✨ Beyond the Office
When she’s not helping patients and families heal, you can find her reading, watching football, managing her Fantasy Football league, playing softball, or spending quality time with her husband and kids. Fun fact—she was born on Friday the 13th!

✨ Words of Wisdom
For anyone starting in the behavioral health field, she says: “Don’t take things personally. Understand your own triggers, set healthy boundaries, and learn how to build rapport quickly and efficiently.”

💜 Her Inspiration
Her greatest motivation comes from her family and her ability to be of service to others. She lives by the motto: “If you’re gonna dream, might as well dream BIG.”

Meet Jonathan Perry, our dedicated Alumni Director, who has been an integral part of the Amethyst Recovery Center family for the past five years.

💼 Professional Journey

Jonathan’s own experience with addiction and recovery inspired him to dedicate his life to helping others. With a unique ability to connect with clients on a personal level, he brings compassion, understanding, and experience to every interaction. He is most proud of being present for anyone, anytime, with whatever is needed – always stepping up and making a difference.

💜 Favorite Part of the Work

For Jonathan, the most rewarding part of his role is witnessing transformation:

“Watching the light come back into someone’s eyes, hearing the zest for life return in their voice, and seeing them rebuild relationships is the most meaningful part of what we do.”

🌟 Personal Touch

Outside of Amethyst, Jonathan is a devoted husband and father of two. He’s also a lifelong musician who plays multiple instruments, sings, and is known around here as our resident dad joke extraordinaire. His favorite motto comes from his sponsor:

“If you keep God in the center of everything you do, you can never go wrong.”

When he’s not helping others, you’ll find him playing guitar, watching sports, spending time with family and friends, or daydreaming about his chosen superpower — teleportation — so he could sip coffee at the pyramids of Giza before work.

“Always focus on being helpful. The smallest gestures can leave the biggest impact. Treat everyone as you would want your loved one to be treated.”

🌟 Staff Highlight: Amber Scott – Case Manager 🌟

At Amethyst Recovery Center, our team is the heart of what we do, and today we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Amber Scott, one of our dedicated Case Managers. 💜

Amber has been with Amethyst for 6 years, first serving as our Intake Coordinator for four years before stepping into her current role as Case Manager. With 12 years of personal recovery and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Amber brings both her lived experience and educational expertise to every client interaction.

✨ What inspires Amber most
about her work?

She says her favorite part is

“watching the patients come back to life — seeing their eyes sparkle again, the color return to their faces, and clients who once needed a wheelchair leaving with a pep in their step.”

Amber is most proud of her ability to connect with clients from a place of love and understanding, and she truly embodies Amethyst’s mission and values.

“I’ve stayed because Amethyst cares — really cares — about helping people get better and find recovery,” she shares.

💡 A little more about Amber:

• Motivated each day by being part of a team that truly cares about people’s recovery.

• Collector of antique books — her favorite collection is the
original Wizard of Oz set. 📚

• CrossFit enthusiast and nature lover, always exploring Florida’s preserves. 🌿

Her advice for those starting out in the field?

“Take care of yourself, because you can’t pour from an empty cup. Self-care is vital, especially when your role is to emotionally support others.”

Meet Nathan, Our Operations Supervisor here at Amethyst Recovery Center! Nate has been part of the Amethyst family for over 5 years, leading and supporting our team of behavioral health technicians while ensuring day-to-day operations run seamlessly. From coordinating staff schedules to fostering collaboration between medical, clinical, administrative, and support teams, Nathan plays a vital role in making sure our patients receive safe, efficient, and compassionate care. 💜

✨ What inspired you to work in this field?

“Being in recovery myself, I have a personal understanding of the struggles that come with addiction — not just getting sober, but staying sober. My hope is that my experience can help someone who walks through our doors in the same shoes I was once in.”

✨ What’s your favorite part of working at
Amethyst?

“The environment. Amethyst has always felt more like family than just a workplace. You’re surrounded by people who genuinely care — a true support system. I’ve never worked anywhere that shows the level of care and support for its team members like Amethyst does.”

✨ Fun fact about you?

“I’m part Japanese! My grandmother was born and raised in Okinawa, Japan. She met my grandfather, a Marine, while working in a candy shop. Growing up, I was surrounded by her cooking and traditions — it’s a special part of my heritage that I cherish.” 🍡🇯🇵

✨ What do you enjoy outside of work?

“I enjoy going to the gym, playing video games with friends, and collecting niche fragrances. The gym is huge for my physical and mental health, gaming helps me unwind, and I love exploring how scents (colognes) can trigger memories and emotions.”

✨ What’s your favorite part of the recovery
process to witness?

“Seeing our alumni thriving. Watching someone come in broken and then running into them months or years later — healthy, happy, and rebuilding their lives — is the most uplifting part of this work. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do.” 💪✨

What I Wish I Would Have Told Myself Before…

If I could go back and talk to the person I used to be—the one who felt lost, broken, and unworthy of a better life—I would grab their hands, look them in the eyes, and say, "YOU ARE WORTH IT."

I spent years believing I didn’t deserve recovery, that I had gone too far, hurt too many of the people I loved, and made way too many mistakes. The burden of the shame and guilt I felt kept me trapped in my addiction, convincing me that I wasn’t worth saving. But I was so wrong.

The truth is, there was always help for me, I just didn't know how badly I wanted it at the time. All I had to do was accept it. And when I finally did, I found a life beyond my wildest dreams. A life of hope, healing, love, and second chances. A life where every day I wake up grateful instead of hopeless.

What if someone told you that all you have to do to have the life you want is 𝔾𝕀𝕍𝔼 𝕌ℙ 𝟙 𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾?

Would you do it?

Most of us say "Hell yes~ Why wouldn't I?"

And yet, that's EXACTLY how addiction and recovery work! All you have to do is 𝔾𝕀𝕍𝔼 𝕌ℙ 𝟙 𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾 - drugs, alcohol, whatever your vice is - 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕘𝕖𝕥 𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕜 𝔼𝕍𝔼ℝ𝕐𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾!

Instead, in active addiction, we focus more on giving up 𝔼𝕍𝔼ℝ𝕐𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾 and anything just to be sure that we'll have that 𝕆ℕ𝔼 𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾.

In reality, giving up that 𝕆ℕ𝔼 𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾 would give us 𝔼𝕍𝔼ℝ𝕐𝕋ℍ𝕀ℕ𝔾 we're looking for!
