All of the clinicians at our center are lovers of learning!

I recently listened to a podcast on Complex Trauma by Sarah Herstich called:
"The Hidden Shame in Emotional Neglect" Episode from March 25th, 2026

She goes over the following-

10 EXPERIENCES YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE HAD IF YOU GREW UP EMOTIONALLY NEGLECTED:
1 - Someone helping you make sense of your emotions
2 - Being known beyond being easy, good or independent
3 - Having your feelings mirrored back to you
4 - Learning what your needs actually are
5 - Being allowed to be inconvenient sometimes
6 - Someone helping your nervous system settle
7 - Being comforted without having to earn it
8 - Feeling like your emotions mattered in your family
9 - Seeing healthy repair after conflict
10 - Space to become who you are, not just what others needed you to be

I was on a morning stroll this gorgeous June first Monday and noticed a little tiny plant (w**d-?) growing out of a crack in the concrete by the lookout area. I was unexpectedly touched by the little life, fighting to exist at the end of a concrete walkway. Words came to mind: perseverance, determination, resilience, grit-please share in comments your thoughts about this little guy!

Little does this plant realize how it demonstrates what we as humans face every day-trying to survive, thrive, grow through what we go through. Anyway, happy, happy Monday, everyone! 😊

Yoga is a practice, not a performance. Trauma-informed yoga is a special kind of yoga practice to help individuals heal from anxiety, PTSD, depression and other types of mental health concerns as a result of trauma they've experienced. To learn more, take a look at this short but informative blog written by our one and only trauma-informed yoga instructor, Kate Horstemeier!

You don’t need to be flexible, calm, or athletic to begin. Yoga is a practice, not a performance. (Emphasis on the word practice.) You do not need to touch your toes, wear expensive athletic clothes, or be able to clear your mind. You only need to show up, just as you are.
