Gut health issues and bloating can come from more than just food.

Of course, what you eat matters — but it is not always the whole story. Things like stress, sleep, hormone shifts, nervous system dysregulation, inflammation, food sensitivities, gut bacteria imbalances, medications, constipation, and even how quickly you eat can all play a role in digestive discomfort.

That’s why a deeper look matters.

At The Flourish Center, Jen Owen, NP takes the time to look at the full picture during your appointment — not just your symptoms, but your lifestyle, history, patterns, stress, nutrition, and whole-body wellness.

If bloating or gut discomfort keeps showing up in your life, you deserve more than quick fixes or being told to “just avoid certain foods.”

A warm herbal tea after eating can gently support digestion and help your body transition into a calmer state.

At our clinic, our Digestive Refresh tea blend is made with spearmint, peppermint, lemon balm, and lavender which helps support broth the gut and nervous system 🫖

Additionally, established patients may choose to enhance their visit with optional add-on services, including our Herbal Consultation. During this personalized consultation, you’ll receive a customized daily herbal infusion (medicinal tea) recommendation tailored to your individual wellness goals, such as supporting digestion, gut health, and overall well-being. 🌿🍵

Happy World Bicycle Day! 🚲

Here in Portland, bikes are more than a way to get from place to place. They’re part of our city’s culture, our daily rhythms, and, in many ways, a beautiful example of Lifestyle Medicine in motion.

Biking supports movement, time outdoors, stress relief, sustainability, and connection with the community around us. Whether you ride to work, cruise through your neighborhood, or simply appreciate the many bikes that help make Portland feel like Portland, today is a great reminder that healthy habits don’t always have to be complicated.

Thank you, bikes, for getting us where we need to go — and for helping keep our bodies moving along the way.

This week, we’re talking about gut health and bloating — and sometimes support can begin with something as simple as a warm cup of tea.

One of my favorite gentle tummy blends includes:

Mint
Sage
Chamomile
Fennel
Ginger
Licorice

These herbs have traditionally been used to support digestion, soothe the stomach, and bring a little comfort when your gut feels unsettled. Of course, herbal tea is not a replacement for a deeper evaluation, especially if bloating, discomfort, reflux, constipation, diarrhea, or food reactions are happening often.

At The Flourish Center, our integrative consults take a closer look at gut health, lifestyle, stress, nutrition, inflammation, and whole-body wellness — because digestive symptoms are often connected to more than just what you ate today.

If you’ve been struggling with bloating or gut discomfort, you deserve a new take.

This week, we’re talking more about gut health and bloating.

These are concerns that come up often in Jen Owen, NP’s work — and they’re worth taking seriously. Bloating, digestive discomfort, food sensitivities, irregular digestion, and that feeling that “something is off” can all be signs that your body needs a deeper look.

Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing more about what can contribute to gut symptoms, why quick fixes don’t always get to the root, and how an integrative approach can support whole-body wellness.

If you’ve been struggling with gut health or bloating, you deserve a new take.

What is Holistic Pelvic Care™?

Holistic Pelvic Care™ is a gentle, restorative approach to pelvic health that supports balance, healing, and reconnection in the pelvic region.

Offered by Jen Owen, NP at The Flourish Center, this work uses breathwork, visualization, and gentle intra-vaginal massage to support the pelvic floor and surrounding tissues with deep respect and care.

Holistic Pelvic Care™ may be helpful for those navigating pelvic pain, menstrual changes, low libido, menopause transitions, incontinence, fertility challenges, postpartum recovery, unresolved hip or low back pain, grief after loss, or a desire to reconnect with the body in a more grounded way.

This work is highly individualized and whole-person focused, honoring both the physical and emotional layers of pelvic healing.

Still exhausted even though your labs are “normal”?

In Jen Owen, NP’s new blog, she shares why fatigue is often more layered than one lab result can explain. Energy is influenced by sleep quality, stress physiology, hormones, metabolism, nutrition, inflammation, and the daily patterns that quietly shape how your body functions.

At The Flourish Center, we take a whole-person, integrative approach to understanding fatigue — so you’re not left guessing, pushing through, or feeling like your symptoms are being dismissed.

Chronic fatigue can be easy to brush off as “just being tired,” but ongoing exhaustion is worth paying attention to.

If you’re waking up tired, crashing during the day, feeling foggy or depleted, or relying on caffeine just to get through, your body may be asking for more support.

Jen Owen, NP takes a whole-person approach to exploring fatigue and the patterns that may be contributing to it.
