🚨 Breaking: Federal Action Expands Psÿchede|lic Research in the U.S.

Today, the President signed an executive order directing federal agencies to accelerate research into psÿchede|lic substances, including ibogaine.

This is not just symbolic. It includes:
• Federal match funding (up to $50M) to support state-led research
• FDA clearance for clinical trials of ibogaine to begin in the U.S.
• Efforts to reduce barriers for Schedule I research
• Expanded collaboration across agencies, including the VA
• Faster review pathways for potential treatments
• Exploration of Right to Try access for eligible patients
Together, these actions signal a meaningful shift in how psÿchede|lic research is being approached at the federal level.

At the same time, this moment comes with important nuance.

Much of this work is still in early stages. Some substances, like ibogaine, remain less studied and carry known risks. And while timelines may accelerate, access will still depend on rigorous research, regulatory review, and careful implementation.

What feels clear is this:

The national conversation is evolving.

We are seeing growing alignment across researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and communities, especially around the urgent need for new approaches to mental health and addiction care.

As this field continues to develop, the role of ethical training, trauma-informed facilitation, and regulated models of care remains essential.

This is a moment to stay grounded, informed, and engaged.

What does consent actually feel like in practice?

Not just as a policy, but as a living, relational process between facilitator and client.

This workshop invites you into the nuance.

Led by Emma Knighton, Director of Programs & Services at InnerTrek, we’ll explore how consent shows up in real time: in conversation, in touch, in boundaries, and within yourself.

You’ll leave with grounded, practical tools you can immediately bring into your facilitation work and a deeper understanding of what it means to practice with integrity.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨
New Jersey becomes the 4th U.S. state to legalize psi|ocybïn—and the 2nd to do so within a medical framework.

On Monday, January 19, 2026, Governor Phil Murphy signed legislation establishing a state-run psi|ocybïn therapy pilot program. Under the new law, a small number of hospitals will be authorized to administer psi|ocybïn to select patients as part of a two-year behavioral health study.

This program is designed to evaluate safety and effectiveness for serious mental health conditions under strict clinical supervision. It does not create public access or a commercial model—outside of the pilot, psi|ocybïn remains illegal in New Jersey.

Notably, New Jersey had already taken a step in 2021 by reducing criminal penalties for possession of small amounts of psi|ocybïn, signaling a longer arc toward reform.

This marks another meaningful milestone in the national shift toward evidence-based, regulated psychedelic care—and reinforces a growing truth: the conversation has moved from if to how.

🌱 If you want to stay informed and be part of this evolving movement, follow InnerTrek for ongoing updates, education, and insight into the future of regulated psychede|ic care.

We’re honored to have collaborated with on this entertainment-style documentary, filmed at our service center in downtown Portland, Oregon. Cut created a heartfelt, curious, and beautifully human exploration of psi|ocybın, and we’re grateful they invited InnerTrek to help support the process — led in collaboration with our InnerTrek-trained facilitators, Lead Facilitator & InnerTrek Production Manager Lisa Snyder , and Co-Facilitator Rose Engeln.

Released on October 31, 2025, the full 9½-minute video is already approaching 2 million views. Seeing so many people engage with this story has been incredibly meaningful for our team and for the broader work of psi|ocybın normalization.

The Cut.com team approached InnerTrek wanting to create a follow-up to their popular “Grandmas Try Cannabis” video — but this time, they wanted to explore psi|ocybın in a way that was safe, legal, and grounded in Oregon’s licensed psi|ocybın model.

After reaching out to more than 30 service and healing centers, they selected InnerTrek as their partner.

Psi|ocybın has long been misunderstood due to decades of stigma and the legacy of the war on dr*gs. It was a true honor to help normalize this work, illustrate its safety, and show what compassionate, trauma-attuned care can look like within a regulated framework.

Huge gratitude to everyone who made this possible:
🍄 Lisa Snyder — Lead Facilitator & InnerTrek Production Manager
🍄 Rose Engeln — Co-Facilitator
🍄 Keri Padon — InnerTrek Liaison & Service Center Manager
🩺 Dr. Seth Mehr — Director of Health & Safety
📚 Emma Knighton — Director of Programs & Services
🌱 Tom Eckert — Founder of InnerTrek, whose vision helped shape Oregon’s state-regulated psi|ocybın framework
🎥 And the entire Cut.com team — producers and creators of the film — for approaching this project with care, curiosity, and professionalism.

If this resonates, please share the video — every share helps expand understanding and visibility for licensed facilitation.

Unlock Deep Connection: Transform Relationships With Openness

What does it mean to truly attune to another person? 🌿

As Tal Sharabi, MA, shares with InnerTrek’s Cohort 4 at Forest Refuge, attunement is more than presence. It’s bringing your full self into connection while allowing the other person to be fully themselves — and being open enough to be changed in the process.

✨ This practice is essential for trauma-informed, ethical facilitation. But it also applies to everyday relationships — with clients, loved ones, colleagues, and communities.

When we meet each other with openness and mindfulness, new possibilities unfold.

💜 If you feel called to deepen your capacity to hold this kind of space, explore facilitator training at InnerTrek.

Cultural Humility in Healing: Honoring Lineages & Group Practices

🌍 In the work of psychede|ïc healing, cultural humility is essential.

As Tal reminds us, the way we hold groups and integrate comes from many lineages—gestalt therapy, humanistic psychology, indigenous traditions, and beyond. Each brings wisdom, each carries lessons.

When we decentralize our own perspective, we create space to honor other ways of holding healing circles, medicines, and communities. ✨

Humility is the ground where safety, respect, and deeper integration can grow.

💜 At InnerTrek, we invite students to explore this truth as part of their journey to becoming facilitators.

Unlock the Mythic: Story, Dreams & Psychede|ïc Preparation

“Myths are public dreams, and dreams are private myths.” — Joseph Campbell ✨

In our work as psychede|ïc practitioners, we’re not just gathering intake forms or checklists — we’re entering into the mythic world of our clients. Their personal and collective stories carry layers of meaning that shape preparation, integration, and healing.

By slowing down and listening deeply, we discover that every client’s journey is part of a larger human story — a weaving of inner dreams and outer myths. 🌍

At InnerTrek intensives, educators like Simon guide students to develop practical skills for engaging with these narratives — learning how to hear, honor, and hold them as part of ethical facilitation.

Welcome to the Magical Kingdom of Mushrooms

Fungi don’t fit into the categories of plants or animals. 🌿

They form their own kingdom of life — a vast network that has shaped Earth’s ecosystems for over a billion years. From nourishing soils to inspiring new medicines, mushrooms remind us that life is more interconnected than we often realize.

✨ The more we study fungi, the more we glimpse their role in healing, resilience, and community.

If you feel called to explore how mycology and psychede|ïc studies intersect, InnerTrek’s work is one place where science, practice, and wisdom meet.

Consent Isn’t a One-Time Thing: Learning Trauma-Attuned Consent

Consent isn’t a checkbox. It’s a living practice. 💜

As Emma Knighton shares, real consent means slowing down enough to stay attuned, present, and responsive in every moment.

This is the heart of trauma-attuned consent:
🌿 Listening for shifting needs
🌿 Naming desires, limits, and risks
🌿 Finding “safe enough” together
🌿 Honoring that consent can change at any time

Whether in facilitation, relationships, or everyday life, this way of being creates spaces where people feel seen, respected, and safe. ✨

At InnerTrek, we teach these principles as core to ethical psychede|ïc facilitation.

Enrollment for Cohort 5 extended through October 1.

Clean Service vs. Consent Violation — Emma Knighton on Facilitator Integrity

One of the most important lessons for psychedelic practitioners:
👉 Serving vs. taking are not the same.

At InnerTrek’s Forest Refuge intensive, educator Emma Knighton taught students how unconscious “take” can break consent — even when intentions are good.

Facilitators must always orient toward serve/accept:
🌿 Who is it for? Who is doing the action?

If it’s for the client, it’s service. If it’s for the practitioner, it risks slipping into “take” — breaking trust, breaking safety, breaking consent.

This is why training matters. Ethical facilitation isn’t just about knowledge of medicines — it’s about practicing awareness, embodiment, and clean consent in every interaction.

💜 At InnerTrek, students gain the tools to serve with integrity and create truly safe spaces for healing.

✨ If you feel called to this path, enrollment is open through October 1.
