💪 A High-Protein Find

After the gym, I headed to the Zoo to watch the World Cup and grabbed dinner from Nigerian barbecue

I loved this option because it’s simple. Grilled protein. Rice. Flavor.

When I’m out, I’m not looking for the “perfect” meal. I’m looking for something satisfying, enjoyable, and filling enough that I’m not grazing on snacks all night or heading home hungry.

One of the biggest nutrition misconceptions is that eating well requires a health food restaurant. Most of the time, it’s about spotting the better option wherever you happen to be.

I get a lot of questions about rice, and I think it’s one of those foods that has been unfairly demonized by the wellness industry. After a workout, carbohydrates like rice can actually be really helpful. They help replenish energy stores used during exercise, while the protein from the skewers supports muscle recovery. Sometimes a simple plate of meat and rice is exactly what your body needs.

Healthy Portland #2 🌿

As someone who spends a lot of time at markets, festivals, and community events, one of the biggest challenges is finding food that actually leaves me feeling good.

So whenever I see Meet on the Street set up at an event, I get a little excited.

Maybe “safe” is a strange word to use for a food truck, but when you’ve spent years trying to build a better relationship with food, finding a place you can count on feels a lot like safety.

I know I’ll be able to find something fresh, balanced, and satisfying. No wondering if I’ll be able to find something nourishing. No settling. No feeling sluggish afterward.

Their tacos and bowls are 🔥🔥🔥. Great protein options, plenty of fresh vegetables, delicious fermented toppings that I’m obsessed with, and meals that are packed with flavor while still feeling nourishing.

Portland’s food truck scene has produced some incredible restaurants over the years. I have no idea if Meet on the Street has plans to make that leap, but I hope they keep doing exactly what they’re doing because it’s working.

If you haven’t tried them yet, I highly recommend following their Instagram so you know where they’ll be parked next. Chances are, wherever they are, they’ll be one of the most nourishing options around.

Have you tried ? What do you order? 👇

🌿☀️ Two events next week are filling quickly, and we’d love to have you join us.

One thing I hear often is, “I don’t have anyone to go with.”

The truth is, many people come to events on their own. Most walk in not knowing anyone, and by the end of the event they’re sharing conversations, making connections, and recognizing familiar faces at future gatherings.

You won’t be the only one arriving solo.

If you’ve been interested in joining us, don’t let that be the thing that holds you back.

A day in Mizata.

Every day is different, but there is a common theme…

A little more presence.
A little less rushing.

More time outdoors.
More movement.
More connection.
More laughter.
More rest.

Some moments are shared. Some are entirely your own.

The beauty of retreat isn’t following a schedule perfectly. It’s having the space to listen to what you need and actually respond to it.

By the end of the week, most people leave feeling lighter, clearer, more grounded, and more connected to themselves than when they arrived.

HEALTHY PORTLAND #1

I don’t usually play favorites, but if I did, might make it difficult not to.

My order is almost always the Caesar salad with white anchovies, sourdough croutons, and an extra jammy egg for a little more protein and healthy fat. It’s one of those meals that leaves you feeling satisfied without feeling weighed down.

If you’re looking for something sweet, the raspberry ricotta toast or Matcha affogato is worth trying. Creamy, refreshing, and a nice treat when you’re in the mood for something a little different.

The food is reason enough to visit, but the market, local products, live music, and cozy atmosphere are what keep me coming back.

Good food. Great people. One of my favorite spots to spend a slow morning or afternoon.
