The world right now is challenging–not feeling your best makes things even harder. I’ve been taking care of people through Chinese medicine for over two decades, addressing both musculoskeletal and internal issues–from knee injuries and back pain to seasonal allergies, depression, and stroke recovery. I love this medicine and I’ve experienced how profoundly it can help people. I’m Paul and I’d love to be your acupuncturist.

I recently did a four-day Sports Medicine Acupuncture training in San Diego, alongside one of my mentors and the founder of the Acupuncture Center of Portland, Dr. Eric Stephens. The training was taught by acupuncturist Matt Callison who has dual degrees in Sports Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. His system incorporates the best Western understandings of anatomy, physiology, injury, and the effects of aging, combined with insights from over 3,000 years of Chinese medicine. If you are an athlete looking to recover or enhance performance, or even if you’re just someone needing a tune-up for daily life, let me show you what I’ve learned and what Chinese medicine can do for you.

I take most major forms of insurance. If you don’t have insurance, we have package deals and economic hardship rates to make this medicine available. Take a minute to book a first time patient appointment with me and we can get started! I look forward to working with you.

Some advice on navigating the Winter, from Master Liu He.

Master Liu He suggests that in winter do not waste or bother your Yang Qi. Winter is considered a time for storage, just as nature and animals take this time to hibernate. She stated, if you do not preserve your Yang Qi, all the Spring diseases will occur such as: cold hands & feet, Yang Qi will not...

These diets prioritize a variety of unprocessed or minimally processed foods, including plenty of vegetables, whole grains, nuts and legumes, Dr. Hu said. Beyond that, he added, there’s a lot of flexibility in how to eat for healthy aging. “One size does not fit all,” he added. Dr. Hu, for example, has long followed what he calls a traditional Asian diet, regularly consuming tofu, seaweed and green tea. But because he recognizes the benefits of the Mediterranean diet, he also uses extra virgin olive oil. And he enjoys his coffee, too.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, but certain dietary patterns are more associated with longer lives than others.

"We are but animals in soft, responsive bodies, and when our habitat is threatened it shows. Tight shoulders, sleepless nights, clenched jaws, shallow breaths, and sudden fight-or-flight spirals are all natural responses. Before we can reimagine the world, we must learn to inhabit ourselves with patience and compassion."

Practices, gestures, and seeds for living well in the age of endings.
