Join us on Saturday, June 27, from 12–4 PM as we gather to celebrate the life of Andaluz, honor this beloved space, and mark the closing of a remarkable chapter.

After 27 years of caring for families, mentoring midwives, welcoming babies, and loving this community, it is time to say goodbye. Fittingly, Andaluz held its first open house on Saturday, June 26, 1999. Exactly 27 years later, we invite our families, staff, students, and friends to come together for a true full-circle moment.

We are calling this gathering our “Closing of the Bones.”

The Closing of the Bones is a traditional healing ritual practiced in cultures around the world, particularly in Latin America. The ceremony is often offered after childbirth, honoring the profound transformation of pregnancy and birth while creating space for integration, healing, and closure. It recognizes that birth opens us—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—and that there is value in intentionally marking the end of one season before stepping into the next.

As Andaluz closes its doors, we find meaning in this tradition. Together, we will honor all that was created here, celebrate the families and midwives whose lives have been intertwined with this place, and gently close the circle on 27 extraordinary years of service to our community.

We hope you will join us.

A Message to Our Community:

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Andaluz Birth Center will be closing its doors on July 1, 2026.
For many years, it has been our privilege to walk alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Being invited into these moments has been an honor we will never take for granted.
Our immediate focus is ensuring that every current client receives support and guidance as they transition their care. Members of our clinical team are personally reaching out to clients whose care may be affected, and additional information will be provided directly to all current families.
We understand this news may bring disappointment, uncertainty, and many questions. Please know that we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible and helping clients connect with alternative providers and resources for continued care.

To our current and former clients: thank you for trusting us with your pregnancies, births, and growing families. The relationships built within these walls have shaped our lives in ways words cannot fully express.
While this chapter is coming to a close, the impact of this community will continue long after our doors close.
This announcement is both professional and deeply personal for those of us who have dedicated ourselves to this work. We are grieving alongside our clients and our community while doing everything we can to ensure families continue to receive the care and support they deserve.

With gratitude,
The Andaluz Birth Center Team

📢 Big news for Oregon families! 📢

Starting in 2026, SB 692 requires commercial insurance plans to cover doula care—including prenatal, birth, and postpartum support. That means more access, less out-of-pocket cost, and better support through your entire early parenthood journey.

Our latest blog breaks down:
✨ what’s actually covered
✨ how it works with your insurance
✨ what this means for your birth options

If you’ve been considering a doula, this is your sign!
