One of our favorite ways to help someone with hamstring pain, tension, or weakness. These are a great, no equipment, way to strengthen up your hamstrings and keep your tendons feeling strong. These can be pretty intense especially if you haven’t trained hamstrings specifically. Certainly work through this one with us in office or with supervision from a personal trainer, coach or physiotherapist.

Neural injection therapy has been taking off here at Sunstone and many patients are getting help with pain and discomfort that has been feeling “stuck”. This therapy is great for scar tissue and areas of the body where healing has been slow. Check out our website to learn more and book with Dr. Johnson.

1. What’s one thing that instantly makes your day better?

Chocolate. Easily the best way to a better day. Our front desk knows cause I am usually going in there to ask if we have any.

2. What’s your favorite thing about what you do?

My favorite part of being a chiropractor is seeing the progress people make before my eyes. Seeing people I work with regain their physical freedom and keep doing the things that excite them is without a doubt my favorite.

3. What’s your favorite way to unwind on your days off?

Workouts with friends, playing soccer, Timbers games, walks around Portland, and doing a little bit of gaming.

And this week is Jamie! Jamie sees patients Monday through Thursday from around noon until 6:30-ish.

1. What’s one thing that instantly makes your day better?

When I receive an unexpected call or a visit from a friend or family member. My heart is warmed when my favorite people reach out to remind me that they’ve been thinking of me. And my pets pure and unfiltered excitement when I come home to them every day.

2. What is your favorite thing about what you do?

My favorite part about being a massage therapist is the optimism for healing I hear from my patients as we progress in their treatment. To see someone reconnect with their body in real time and realize their potential for health and wellbeing. Whether it’s recovery from an acute injury, managing a chronic condition or relearning decades of damaging stress and tension patterns. Witnessing them see the light at the end of the tunnel, with pride in themselves for their progress and commitment to healing is hands down the best part of doing this type of work.

3. What’s your favorite way to unwind on your days off?

My favorite ways to unwind involve spending quality time with my partner cooking dinner, paying with our adorable pets and journaling and writing. A home body at heart my favorite days include cozy clothes, a good book with a cup of tulsi tea a phone call with a friend and a drizzle of Portland rain outside my window.

This week we have Colleen! Colleen sees folks for massage on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. She works alongside Dr. Lori on Mondays and Wednesdays.

1. What’s one thing that makes your day instantly better?

There’s something so pure and fulfilling about witnessing a plant grow and a flower blossoming, whether it’s inside my home or out in the garden. Seeing the cotyledons push through the soil makes me giddy. And when I watch the bees flit from flower to flower, it brings me a sense of peace.

2) what is your favorite thing about what you do?

My favorite aspect of being both a chiropractic assistant and a massage therapist is witnessing the transformation in clients. It’s incredibly rewarding to reassure them that improvement is on the horizon. I often share my own journeys through pain, as I believe it helps them understand that there’s hope for recovery.

3) What’s your favorite way to unwind on your days off?

On my days off, I usually find my peace outside, whether I’m cycling, trail running, climbing up and down a mountain, or just having fun in my backyard. Being outdoors feels like pure freedom to me.

Next up is Mikyla. Mikyla sees patients for massage on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursdays.

1. what’s one thing that instantly makes your day better?

Eating a beautiful meal, either a simple homemade dish or a comfort meal out. Fueling myself feels like instant joy.

2. what is your favorite thing about what you do?

My favorite part of being a massage therapist is being able to hold space and listen to clients’ journeys with their health and bodies. I’m always happy to hear when people feel connected to their bodies or when they’re trying to build that relationship with themselves. It inspires me!

3. What’s your favorite way to unwind on your days off?

On my days off I love to tidy up my living space, cook beautiful meals for myself, and spend time with friends. Although simple, these acts always bring me back to myself and make me feel taken care of.
