In celebration of Older Americans Month, we are proud to recognize Mirabella resident Ann Olsen, whose life reflects a remarkable spirit of adventure, resilience, and lifelong curiosity. From her roots in Oregon’s Willamette Valley to a successful career in microbiology, Ann has embraced each chapter with determination and a passion for discovery.
One of the most defining experiences of her life was a five-year sailing journey around the world with her family. Departing from Portland, Ann traveled across the South Pacific to Hawaii, Australia, and the Great Barrier Reef, then across the Indian Ocean to South Africa—navigating both unforgettable cultures and challenging seas along the way. She later captured these extraordinary experiences in her book Beyond the Next Horizon, now part of the Mirabella Library.
From sailing across oceans to sharing music and stories, Ann continues to inspire those around her. She truly embodies the spirit of Older Americans Month, and we are so lucky to have her as part of the Mirabella community!
