We use organic beekeeping methods. Land, soil, and water stewardship are strong company values. When using ingredients in our products that we do not produce ourselves, we have high standards and always first source locally, organically, and fair-trade certified. We are located outside of Portland, Oregon.

Madelyn had the pleasure of reconnecting with Dilafruz Williams in our garden recently! She was a dear mentor and influential professor from my grad school days at PSU, before Mickelberry Gardens existed.

I didn't study business in school, and I don't think we would have approached our business in the same way if I had. We're makers and plant people, and we didn't start our company with marketing or scaling in mind.

Reconnecting with her 15 years after graduating has me reflecting on how focusing on quality handmade products, local food systems, and sourcing locally is still so influential how we operate.

Summer is in full swing, and our bees are hard at work. The colonies are strong, flowers are blooming across the Pacific Northwest, and every sunny day brings another opportunity to gather nectar and pollen. This is one of the busiest—and most rewarding—times of the year for both bees and beekeepers.

Our beekeeping team is spending long days inspecting hives, making sure the colonies have plenty of room to grow, monitoring their health, and watching as they transform fresh nectar into the beautiful raw honey we love. It's a season filled with buzzing activity.

Meanwhile, our herbal partners are also in the thick of harvest season. Across the region, medicinal herbs are reaching their peak. These herbs will soon make its way into our fall immune support formulas, alongside raw honey and the other botanicals that make our remedies so special.

From blooming fields to busy hives, summer is laying the foundation for the products we'll be crafting in the months ahead. Thank you for supporting the bees, the farmers, and the small-batch herbal traditions that make it all possible.

We have a fun project happening in our front yard this summer: A log hive!

It’s made from a section of a tree that’s hollow inside. We added a roof and drilled a hole into the tree as an entrance for the bees.

Wild honeybees will often build their hives inside cavities in trees, so this is perfect habitat.

We’ll be able to harvest honey later this summer by removing the roof - stay tuned!

We have a fun project happening in our front yard this summer: A log hive!

It's made from a section of a tree that's hollow inside. We added a roof and drilled a hole into the tree as an entrance for the bees.

Wild honeybees will often build their hives inside cavities in trees, so this is perfect habitat.

We'll be able to harvest honey later this summer by removing the roof and taking the jars we installed inside - stay tuned!
