Pediatric physical therapy doesn't always look like what you might expect.

Sessions may include balance activities, strengthening exercises, coordination games, or practicing movements that help kids participate in the activities they enjoy.

Play can be an important part of therapy because it gives kids a chance to practice movement skills in a fun, meaningful way.

The goal is to help each child work toward the skills that matter in their everyday life.

Pediatric physical therapy isn't just about what a child can do today. It's about helping them build the strength, coordination, balance, and confidence they can carry with them as they grow.

From learning new movement skills to getting back to the activities they love, PT can help kids keep moving forward.

This October, we're celebrating pediatric physical therapy and the role it can play in helping kids move well today and into the future. 💙

Fall is the perfect time to get kids moving! 🍁

Climbing at the playground, riding bikes, walking on uneven trails, and running through the leaves all give kids opportunities to build strength, balance, coordination, and confidence through play.

Keep moving. Keep playing. Have fun! 🎃

Cancer treatment may end, but recovery can continue.

For children who have gone through cancer treatment, the road back to their normal routines can sometimes be longer than expected.

Chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery may contribute to:

✨ Muscle weakness
✨ Neuropathy
✨ Balance and gait difficulties
✨ Joint tightness
✨ Pain or discomfort
✨ Reduced endurance
✨ Difficulty returning to activities they once enjoyed

These challenges can impact something as simple—and important—as running, jumping, playing, or keeping up with friends.

That’s where pediatric physical therapy can help. 💛

At Tabor Pediatric PT, Emily works with children to help restore movement, improve strength and balance, reduce discomfort, and rebuild confidence following cancer treatment.

Because recovery isn't just about getting stronger.

It’s about helping kids get back to being kids. 🛝⚽️🧸

🎗️ September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️

Every year, more than 15,000 children in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to advances in research and treatment, more children than ever are surviving—and that is something worth celebrating. 💛

But surviving cancer is only part of the journey.

Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery can sometimes leave children with lasting challenges that affect how they move, play, and participate in everyday activities.

At Tabor Pediatric PT, we believe every child deserves support not only during treatment, but throughout their recovery.

This month, we’re raising awareness for childhood cancer and the children and families navigating this journey. 🎗️

Survivorship matters. Movement matters. And every child deserves the opportunity to get back to being a kid. 💛

Dr Emily had another swimrun adventure over the weekend, this time with Adam Schoff in Casco Bay, Maine. Together they swam about 5 miles and ran 18, in 6.5 hours. Emily and Adam raced the shorter course together last year, having only met a few days before. That takes trust, flexibility and a sense of adventure! Thank you ÖTILLÖ Swimrun USA for bringing us together and fostering such an amazing community !

Does your child keep spraining the same ankle?

One ankle sprain can sometimes lead to another—especially when the ankle doesn't fully regain its strength, balance, or stability.

Signs of chronic ankle instability can include:

✔️ Repeated ankle sprains
✔️ The ankle feeling weak or wobbly
✔️ Difficulty with running, jumping, or changing direction
✔️ Avoiding certain activities because the ankle doesn't feel secure

Pediatric physical therapy can help improve strength, balance, coordination, and stability while helping your child safely return to the activities they love.

If your child's ankle keeps giving them trouble, it may be worth taking a closer look. 💛
