I just learned how to prevent on your own or your parents’ home. Please save and send to anyone and everyone who has a home in Oregon. Deed scams are a REAL threat to our seniors. What happens is a scammer looks for a paid off home and then transfers the deed into their name as a deed transfer or they get a loan on their property. You won’t even know this happens until it’s too late. Then a legal battle to reclaim what is rightful yours happens at the worst of times when you need to sell so mom can enjoy senior living. The state of Oregon and Multnomah county has created a site where you simply just sign up for alerts so if anybody tries to transfer, add, or amend with anything with your legal name on it, it will send you an alert right away.
