Anddd she's back πŸ™‹

After an 18 month hiatus from my collaboration with the Counseling Office (and life in general), I return with what feels like many lifetimes of lessons.

With more clarity, purpose, and an awakened sense of community and connection. I continue to serve my people, whether it's in NYC with wellness and pranic healing fam or amongst future doctors and practitioners of healing.
☯️
30 min sessions are FREE for NUNM students. In person or virtual. By appointment only, feel free to DM me with any questions.

It is with great honor and privilege to do this work and serve my community. Thank you. πŸŒ€

Something I've been digesting for a while:
πŸ’
For those who are accustomed to comfort/ privilege and pleasure, discomfort can be a trigger. It might even feel like they're being attacked when their lifestyles or perspectives are being challenged.
πŸŒ€
For those who are accustomed to 'survival mode' and pain, pleasure and rest can be a trigger. That even in abundance and safety, they might find themselves doubting it while saying "This is too good to be true." Perhaps, an invitation for the familiar in both scenarios.
πŸŒ€
I've noticed that we continue to apply a 'one-size-fits-all' model to the oppressor and the oppressed - usually unknowingly. That pleasure activism, although very necessary, can easily be an excuse to evade accountability for the oppressor. And cathartic healing practices can reinforce overwork for the oppressed. Unless or until we see the totality of our experiences, we will continue to stay asleep.

In case anyone needs to hear this:
Rest yo fine *ss.

Take that bath. Sleep in. Take a nap. Eat that comfort food. Play those favorite jams.

Take care of you, boo πŸ’œ

Trauma-Informed Wellness & Medicine (and why we need it more than ever) πŸ’«β€

I hesitated sharing this because being so vulnerable, crying, and sharing my pain can be very uncomfortable in private spaces (let alone a public one), but this is MY work. I'm breaking my silence after being silenced in so many spaces and centering myself and my experiences. These conversations and callouts are long overdue...

Let's talk about trauma, public health, equality and equity insensitivities within medicine, mental health, wellness, somatic and healing work. Let's talk about shame being a tool, enabling racist behaviors, and performative actions.

Stop performing and start doing.

Thanks for watching. Thanks for observing. And thank you for doing the work. β€πŸ’šπŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ’›

Receiving the love and sending it to those who have to experience this too. You are not alone.

Story time and an unraveling of my thoughts, emotions and other sensations. Sifting racism out of my myself from when "I don't see color" to my professional and personal environments, healing and wellness spaces, Chinese Medicine school and COVID. The inconspicuous nature of power, privilege, and spiritual bypassing. How the shift from being in the center to the periphery, and the reversal, can affect our nervous systems.

A call to action for the BIPOC & AAPI brothers and sisters to center ourselves. To challenge where we are not included, respected, heard, seen and centered.

(Some clarifications: The "organic produce" comment was a reference to the high prevalence of classist and racist ideologies in health and medicine. The spiritual bypassing comments came from non-minority middle class folks. I'm not suggesting that only non-minority folks use this as a weapon or shield, but there is a certain leverage that comes with it.)
