As part of working at Vetsource, each associate is offered volunteer time off (VTO) to spend on an activity that enhances and serves the communities in which they live and work.
Our CEO, Andy Bane, just spent his VTO building a fence with Fences For Fido, a volunteer nonprofit that builds free fences (plus doghouses and vet care) so chained-up dogs can finally run free.
“When I thought about how to spend my VTO, Fences For Fido was an easy pick. They build fences for free so dogs that have been living on a chain or cannot go outside because they can escape can have a yard to move around in,” Andy says. “That mission fits us well. We spend every day at Vetsource caring about pets, and this was a chance to do that with my own two hands.”
Andy adds, “I also liked how tangible it is. You show up, you dig, you build, and by the end of the day there is an actual fence erected and a dog with room to run. You do not get that kind of see-it-for-yourself result all that often. And you do it alongside a group of people who all care about the same thing. I came home tired, sore, dirty, and glad I went.”
