Self enquiry often begins in the moments when you feel most certain.

You may be convinced that someone misunderstood you, that your response was completely justified, or that there is only one responsible way to handle the situation.
RO DBT invites a quieter question: What might I be missing here?

That question can create a little more room for feedback, curiosity, and perspectives that may have been difficult to consider at first.

Restrictive eating often carries emotional patterns alongside the nutritional ones.

Therapy and nutrition support can create space to understand those patterns and begin building greater flexibility around meals, hunger, and everyday life.

Some decisions remain uncomfortable even after careful thought.

Your mind may keep searching for the option that guarantees no regret, no disappointment, and no unexpected outcome. That level of certainty is rarely available.

ACT offers another place to begin by asking what matters, what kind of direction feels meaningful, and which next step reflects those values within the reality you are facing.

Self discipline and emotional overcontrol can look very similar from the outside.
Both may involve responsibility, planning, restraint, and a strong ability to follow through. The difference often becomes clearer through what happens when life changes unexpectedly.

Can the plan adjust? Can rest happen without guilt? Can another perspective be considered? Can emotions be shared before they have been completely organised?

Radically Open DBT creates space to explore where discipline continues supporting your life and where rigidity may be limiting connection, flexibility, and ease.

When high standards have shaped how you feel safe, capable, and respected, being corrected can touch something deeper than the task itself.

Therapy can help you explore that reaction with more curiosity and build greater flexibility around mistakes, uncertainty, and other people’s perspectives.

EMDR involves more than beginning with the most difficult memory.

Preparation can include learning how activation shows up in your body, practising ways to return to the present, and developing enough trust in the process to communicate when something feels too intense.

This early work helps your therapist understand your responses and gives both of you a clearer sense of pacing before trauma processing begins.

Being the person others rely on can become part of how you move through every relationship.

Therapy can create space to explore that pattern with curiosity and begin making room for relationships where you do not always have to arrive composed.

People respond to more than the words being spoken.

Facial expression, tone, posture, eye contact, and timing all communicate information during a conversation. When emotions are held very privately, those signals may be harder for other people to read accurately.

You may feel calm while appearing distant. You may be concentrating while sounding critical. You may need time to think while the other person experiences the silence as disconnection.

RO DBT explores how social signals influence closeness and gives people opportunities to practise communicating warmth, openness, and engagement more clearly.

Doing nothing can sound easy until you actually try to do it. For some people, quiet time brings up guilt, restlessness, overthinking, or the urge to immediately make the moment useful.

The discomfort may not mean you are bad at resting. It may mean your mind and body are used to staying busy as a way to feel grounded, prepared, or in control.

Rest does not always feel natural right away. Sometimes, it has to be practiced slowly.

Control can feel comforting when things feel uncertain. You may start planning more, checking more, preparing more, or trying to think through every possible outcome.

At first, it may feel responsible. Over time, it can make the world feel smaller because everything starts needing to go exactly as expected.

The goal is not to stop caring or stop planning. The goal is to build enough flexibility that uncertainty does not have to feel like a threat every time it appears.
