If you haven't heard the news yet, Providence health system will be ending its insurance panel next year, leaving many Oregonians without coverage. For those of us in healthcare, this catastrohpy has been on the horizon for some time--the first sign being when Providence employees were no longer offered Providence insuramce and were moved to Aetna instead. This is a very well-written article that details the fall of the insurer and possible causes. We will all have to wait for 2027 to see how the story truly ends.

It is impossible to know if CEO Don Antonucci could have done anything to avert the Portland company’s looming demise. But a dozen-plus current and ex-employees feel there is more to the story than Providence management let on.
