In his book, The Denial of Death, Ernest Becker said, “both the artist and the neurotic bite off more than they can chew, but the artist spews it back out again and chews it over in an objectified way, as an external, active, work project. The neurotic can’t marshal this creative response embodied in a specific work, and so he chokes on his introversions. The artist has similar large-scale introversions, but he uses them as material”.

Life and light — ✨a lot of growth happens here.

You wouldn’t be able to tell when you walk in, but these days I open my laptop portal and welcome a lot of trauma into this space.
Then I breathe it out, dance it out, paint it out.
It’s hard to differentiate which anxieties are mine and which belong to clients, but really there is no separation. We’re all one body, and we’re moving towards healing like the leaves lean to the sun.

— The Safety Rock

I always bring a copy of The Safety Rock with me when I’m flying on a plane, in case there’s a kid seated next to me who’s having a hard time flying.
It hasn’t happened yet, but I have shared a couple Safety Rocks with adults on planes who seemed kinda stressed. 🙃

These past months, I’ve taken some space from posting much on here and want to share what I’ve been up to!

I’m deep into my third year of graduate school and in my Art Therapy internship, where I’m working at a residential agency with girls who are survivors of s*x trafficking. CSEC youth (commercial s*xual exploitation of children)

I’m still selling books in my shop and working on new illustrations ✨

but I decided to also start sharing more about Art Therapy and general therapeutic / creative healing resources along with the art.

Art therapy is still a relatively new field, and there’s so much healing potential.
