However & wherever you plan to give birth, how you’re supported makes a world of difference in how you’ll feel about your birth.

Labor tips for your support person
✨Early labor: run an Epsom salt bath for mama to soak in, make her laugh to keep the oxytocin flowing, prepare a snack/meal for her, help her change activities every 20 minutes alternating rest & work✨
✨Active labor: keep her hydrated, remind her to empty her bladder every 30-60 minutes, do hip squeezes or counter pressure during contractions, be encouraging✨
✨Pushing: hold her hands, hold cold cloths on her neck or shoulders, encourage her, offer her sips of water/ice chips between contractions✨
✨Immediate postpartum: take photos, make sure she’s well fed & hydrated, do skin to skin with baby, help with cutting the cord & weighing baby✨

5/16 Spinning Babies Parent Class - During labor the baby needs to pass through the three levels of the pelvis. Learn techniques to help your pelvis and its muscles that support or restrict your pelvic levels. Together, you and your birth partner can use these techniques before and during labor to help “make room for baby!” Spinning Babies® reveals how the baby can find optimal positions for labor, and make birth less painful, and even pleasurable!
This class is a great complementary class to your regular, comprehensive childbirth education classes! Saturday, 10:00am-1:00pm

6/9 - Complete Birth Series - This 8 week series is led by one of our area’s most experienced childbirth educators and birth doulas. Learn about physiology of birth, how to communicate and advocate in your birth space, and how to effectively support the hormones of labor. As a support person, discover how your partner likes to be supported and how you can step into the role of helping her keep her power. Tuesdays from 6:30-9:00pm

6/13 - Weekend Warrior Birth Refresher - Had a baby before? Need a refresher on what to expect? This class is for you! Learn how to handle discomfort in labor, partner support, stages of labor, positions and practice, sharing about your previous births (if desired), making a postpartum plan. Saturday from 9:30am-1:30pm

6/20 - Birth Basics 101 - This is a two class series that highlights the basics of stages of labor, anatomy, comfort measures, managing discomfort and intensity, training for your partner, helping baby navigate the pelvis, what to expect in the postpartum and newborn phases. Saturday, 6/20 AND 6/27 from 9:30am-1:30pm

7/13 - Complete Birth Series in person. Mondays from 6:30-9:00pm

8/11- Complete Birth Series in person. Tuesdays from 6:30-9:00pm

9/19 - Weekend Warrior Birth Refresher - Saturday, 9:30am-1:30pm

It’s been a busy season in my doula world and as things have slowed down (intentionally), it feels like a good opportunity to say hello! I have a lot of new followers on this page, and I just want to say welcome!!!

I’m Jennifer and I’ve been a childbirth educator and doula for 27 years. I have served nearly 900 families as their doula and thousands of families as their childbirth educator. My journey began long ago when I was pregnant with our first daughter (how is it possible she turns 30 soon?). Our area didn’t have a childbirth ed class that felt like the right fit for me. After my birth, I decided to take up the cause and pursue birth work as a career!

I love gardening, reading, coffee and tea. My family are my very favorite people ❤️
