If a funeral home doesn't have its own crematory, where does my loved one go?

It's a question many families don't think to ask, but it's an important one.

If a funeral home doesn't have an on-site crematory, your loved one is typically transported to a separate cremation facility. In our area, the closest crematory outside of Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center is in Fort Smith.

At Dowden-Roberts, things are different. As LeFlore County's first and only on-site crematory, your loved one never leaves our care. From the moment they're entrusted to us until they're returned to your family, every step happens right here under our roof. We personally care for them, track them through every stage of the process, and never have to rely on an outside facility.

Can I still have a funeral if I choose cremation?

Absolutely! One of the biggest misconceptions we hear is that choosing cremation means you can't have a funeral or viewing. You can absolutely have both.

In this video, Dylan explains how rental caskets work and how they give families the opportunity to have a traditional visitation or funeral service before cremation. It's an option many people don't even know exists.
