Breast cancer awareness starts with information and access. 🎀

WMCHealth was proud to join Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino, and community organizations for a breast cancer awareness event on the Walkway Over the Hudson.

Our team spoke with community members about the importance of mammograms, shared information about upcoming breast cancer screening opportunities at MidHudson Regional Hospital and helped answer questions about breast health. Members of our breast surgery and gynecologic oncology teams were also on hand to share their expertise.

A sister's gift. A second chance. A remarkable story of love.

When 16-year-old Sierra came to the WMCHealth Transplant Center for her kidney transplant evaluation, she was surrounded by the unwavering support of her family, including her two sisters. What began as a conversation about living donation soon became something extraordinary.

While Sierra underwent treatment for another medical condition and began dialysis at Westchester Medical Center, her family remained by her side through every challenge. At the same time, her sisters explored whether they might be able to help in an even more profound way.

In March 2026, Sierra's sister, Moriah, became her living kidney donor, giving Sierra an incredible gift and the opportunity for a healthier future.

Today, their story highlights the life-changing impact of living kidney donation and the powerful role family can play throughout the transplant journey.

We were proud to celebrate the people and partnerships that make MidHudson Regional Hospital such a special place during the 2026 MidHudson Regional Hospital Honors.

Congratulations to Physician Exemplar Dr. Ziad Elie Abouezzi, Community Champions Michael Dupree and Michael "TJ" McCormack, and the Infusion Center Team, recognized as this year's CARE Champions.

The evening also brought exciting news for the future Herb and Sue Ann Redl Pediatric Emergency Department. Thanks to extraordinary gifts from the Herbert H. Redl Family Foundation ($1.5 million), the Panichi Family ($1 million), and Wanda Flynn ($500,000), an additional $3 million will help create welcoming, child-centered spaces that provide greater comfort and support for pediatric patients and their families.

Twenty-five years after September 11, 2001, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the courage and sacrifice of first responders and healthcare professionals.

This month, trauma and emergency care professionals from across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut will gather for a special conference dedicated to remembrance, education, and preparedness. Together, they will honor the lessons of 9/11 while strengthening the partnerships and knowledge that help communities respond when it matters most.

The WMCHealth Trauma Consortium is proud to support this effort. As the only Level I trauma center for both adults and children in the Hudson Valley, we remain committed to advancing trauma care through compassion, collaboration, preparedness, and service to our patients and communities.

Conference proceeds will be donated to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation to support first responders, military heroes, and their families.

WMCHealth's MidHudson Regional Hospital teamed up with Canine Companions for a day of puppy love, free blood pressure checks, and wellness education at the Hudson Valley Renegades field.

From wagging tails to health screenings, it was community care at its best, and a reminder that looking out for your health can be fun too.
