🌟Our Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Kimberly Wing was honored to speak at the New York State Judicial Task Force on Mental Illness Symposium.🌟

The New York State Judicial Task Force on Mental Illness seeks to ensure that individuals with mental illness and related conditions are treated fairly and compassionately in all aspects of New York’s court system, including criminal, civil and family courts by recommending improvements to court practices, developing policy proposals and promoting collaboration of the judiciary with its willing and committed partners within and outside of government.

The Warren Washington Counties Brainstorm Chalk the Walk is a community collaborative effort celebrating brain health, mental wellness, and recovery. 💚💚💚

This year their theme was "Passing on the Kindness!" 🫶

Our Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT) in Putnam County, available Monday Friday,12pm-8pm, provides community-based crisis response and interventions for individuals of any age.
MCOT Services can be accessed by calling the Mobile Crisis Outreach Team directly.

🚘The team will respond to any setting where a crisis is occurring immediately upon determination of need
🚘Services can be provided face-to-face or telephonically by a Peer Specialist and Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician
🚘Standard follow-up occurs in the days after the initial response to mitigate potential future crises.
🚘Services include engagement, peer support, care collaboration, and linkage to resources

Tune in to WAMC Northeast Public Radio and listen to “New Kingston community health center offers 'non-traditional' therapy for people in crisis” to hear from our Ulster County Crisis Support Center Site Director, Tanisha Castellanos, LCSW! 🗣️🎙️

"In the reception area of the Ulster County Center for Well Being's Crisis Support Center, the lights are bright. The walls and upholstery are a mix of creamy white and pastel orange, and there's art on the wall. It sort of feels like a hotel lobby. That, according to site director Tanisha Castellanos, is intentional. "We are like the bed and breakfast of mental health," she says. "So we want every guest not to feel like a patient or client, or part of a system that's been broken."

That word - "guest" - is also intentional. Castellanos says People USA, a mental health organization that runs the crisis center on behalf of Ulster County, prides itself on helping people avoid the hospital."

The Ulster County Crisis Support Center is a 24/7 community crisis response hub where people of all ages can connect immediately with an integrated team of counselors, peer specialists, and behavioral health professionals. Children or adults experiencing emotional distress, psychiatric symptoms, substance use challenges, or other life stressors can receive confidential onsite care and support for up to 24 hours.

People USA's May Day Event was wonderful, thanks to those who were able to support and attend! 🎉🤝🎉

It was a community giveback day hosted by our LEAD Team in partnership with Mental Health America and Hudson River Housing! 💜💙💜

It was beautiful to bring resources and support directly to those in need. 🫶

Our LEAD or Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion team is a pre-arrest, racially equitable, evidence-based, intensive street case management program designed to reach individuals with unmet behavioral health needs who have not connected with community resources or the traditional systems of care.
