At RCSD, we are proud to pair compassionate care with advanced treatment options like Valeda light therapy for eligible dry AMD patients in San Diego, with the treatment available at our Carlsbad, La Jolla, and Poway locations.
Charlene, who recently began Valeda, describes how it feels to have this treatment so close to home:
“I first asked Dr. London about Valeda light therapy about a year ago, and I’m so glad it’s finally available here in San Diego. I had the option to go to Los Angeles for treatment, but that felt too far since I depend on others for rides. A close friend of mine in Chicago has been using Valeda for a while and has had a great experience with it, so I was excited to finally have it close to home.
I’m on my first series of the light therapy now and just finished my 5th of 9 treatments. Each visit has been very simple from check‑in to heading out the door. The treatment itself is painless and about as noninvasive as it gets, and I’m usually in the office for only around 15 minutes.
Living with dry AMD, it’s reassuring to have something that doesn’t involve injections or surgery and fits into my routine. The team here explains everything clearly, is always friendly, and makes these more frequent visits something I actually look forward to. I’m really looking forward to finishing this first series and hopefully being able to share my own positive results at the end of the year, just like my friend did.”
